I may or may not get a review up this week, and so I thought I’d do something different, since I haven’t had a discussion post in quite some time. As we all know, social media is full of land mines, and any misstep could result in negative consequences. I’ve had this blog going for over […]
The nitty-gritty: A luminous story filled with magic, friendship, love and diversity, beautifully written. The idea of being called Miss or Ms. or, worse, Mrs. The thought of being grouped in when someone called out girls or ladies. The endless, echoing use of she and her, miss and ma’am. Yes, they were words. They were […]
I swear I just posted my September What’s On My Plate, at least that’s what it feels like! Hey, happy October everyone! I love this month, and I’m looking forward to some creepy horror reads and (hopefully) cooler weather. I didn’t quite get to everything I wanted to last month, and October is even crazier […]
The nitty-gritty: A strange and thought-provoking story about loneliness and what it means to be human. For me, memory is not only at times flawed and corrupted but also overlapped and confused, one personality hiding parts of another, blending too, so that the selves within my head sometimes seem many-headed and monstrous or deformed and […]
It’s my pleasure to welcome debut author S.C. Flynn to the blog today! His novel Children of the Different has just hit the streets, and he’s kindly answered some of my questions. I’m always curious about self-published writers and what drives them, and after reading Stuart’s interview my respect for him has grown. So with […]
The nitty-gritty: A unique tale with glimmers of magic and wonder, but with some writing inconsistencies that distracted from the story. The city was a huge place of death with very little life. He could not sense the ghosts of the dead, but they had to be out there. And what about the ghosts of […]

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I get to share my recent book acquisitions! I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s hard to believe there is just a little over three months left in 2016, and as the year winds down, so do the […]
The nitty-gritty: An eerie and heart-stopping ghost story, with unexpected depth. If you love haunted house stories, and especially if you love old houses, you won’t want to miss this one. She took the stairs slower than she could have, stalling the inevitable every step of the way. She didn’t want to let them in. […]
The nitty-gritty: A big, raucous tale of masked wrestlers and crime fighters, steeped in family tradition, with all the humor you’d expect from Matt Wallace. “You don’t know anything about being a villain. You’re just a bad guy.” I’m a huge fan of Matt Wallace’s Sin du Jour series, so when the author asked me […]
It’s that time again, time to giveaway a book that I reviewed in July and August! Because I skipped last month, I’m going to have TWO WINNERS this time. You know the drill, right? This giveaway is international as long as The Book Depository ships to your country. First, I want to congratulate my winner […]
