It’s already the end of January, and I realize I haven’t shared my most anticipated releases of 2018 (other than a couple of lists I did back in November for Sci-Fi Month). Making lists is one of my favorite blogging activities, so I put together fourteen books I’m ridiculously excited to read this year. Caveat: I’m […]
The nitty-gritty: Another fantastic collection from Damien Angelica Walters, with a wide range of stories that explore the themes of fear and grief. This is the third book I’ve read by Damien Angelica Walters, and each time I read her work I’m surprised anew at how good she is. Her short stories often deal with […]

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Just a small book haul this week, but that’s OK. I am trying to restrain myself from requesting too many books this year. I […]
I don’t mention it often, but I own a LOT of books. Like maybe 3,000 or more (I haven’t counted in a while, lol!) I’ve been collecting books since about 1988, when I discovered that my Stephen King collection consisted of mostly first editions/printings, and that some of those were actually worth a lot of […]
The nitty-gritty: An uneven collection of short horror fiction that nonetheless delivers some truly terrifying tales. It’s very rare these days that I accept a book for review directly from an author, especially one unfamiliar to me. But I decided to take a chance on Deborah Sheldon and her debut short story collection, Perfect Little […]
The nitty-gritty: A big, bold, and chaotic futuristic story where the absurd is commonplace, dragons patrol the skies, and everyone has a chance at redemption. Grub and Morsel told me on another occasion that one day soon, Duluth will take them to touch a dragon–it seems this is a coming-of-age ritual in this savage locale. […]
This might be the first ever Did Not Finish review on this blog! Normally I wouldn’t post anything about a book I didn’t finish, but I’m changing up things for a couple of reasons. 1. I want to let the publisher know WHY I didn’t finish it. 2. Since I have a NetGalley copy, I […]
The nitty-gritty: A heady combination of romance and simmering danger make this an irresistible story, set in the realm of faerie. I really enjoyed this book, and even though I read a bunch of negative/unenthusiastic reviews before I got around to it, I was pleasantly surprised by both the story and Margaret Rogerson’s beautiful writing. […]

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! I’m linking up with Stacking the Shelves over at Tynga’s Reviews and The Sunday Post at The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s my first book haul of 2018, and I have to say I’m starting out on the right foot with just a FEW review […]
The nitty-gritty: A dangerous and thrilling tale that grips the reader from the first page and never lets up. If one thing is certain, you can usually count on seasoned and experienced writers to deliver a great story, and I’m happy to report, like so many other reviewers, that The Cruel Prince is a winner. […]
