The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for more information. Join in the fun each Friday by highlighting a book with multiple cover designs!
It’s been (checks blog posts) FIVE months since I last participated in The Friday Face-Off. But since I don’t have much content this week on the blog, I decided to reboot my Friday Face-Off posts, at least for now. Thanks to Lynn for keeping this going, and I hope to participate more frequently.
Today’s book only has two covers, US and UK, and it’s an upcoming horror book I’m very excited for:
U.S. cover, to be published by Tor Nightfire
UK cover, to be published by Daphne Press
I’m not surprised that I love the UK cover more, since it’s often my preference. These covers have such different vibes. The Tor Nightfire cover feels much more ominous to me, so it’s probably perfect for a horror story. Yet I love the colorful design of the Daphne Press cover. Which cover do you like best? Are you planning to read Overgrowth?
I can’t wait to read this, but I think I like the tone of the US cover a little more. But I do love both!
The US cover seems to be winning here!
Definitely UK too. Enjoy the book!
Thanks Emma!
I’m definitely planning to read Overgrowth — but I’m more into the US cover! More of a dark, creepy feel. The UK cover is pretty, in a way, and feels likes sending a different message.
I agree, I have a feeling the US cover is more in line with the story, but I guess we’ll see!
I kind of like the US cover. And I’m excited to read this one when it comes out, too!
Me too, I feel like it’s been years since I read Mira Grant.
“Ominous” is the right word! Aesthetically, I like the US one more, but the first reviews I read before I got my own ARC made me realise that the UK one is more finely attuned to the story, and it’s growing on me. Also, I’m so grateful to Daphne Press for accepting my ARC request (which Tor denied) that I plan on buying a copy of the UK version for my collection and reread .
I’m glad you got a copy from Daphne Press! Now I’m curious about the story to see how the UK cover relates. I need to check out some reviews, perhaps:-)
I prefer the UK cover as well!
It’s something about the colors for me…
Without knowing what the book is about I think I like the US cover because it’s kind of creepy but simple.
It’s very creepy!
I prefer the UK cover the most too. And I usually also like the UK covers more in general. I wonder why!
I’m partial to the UK cover because of the style, but the US cover is definitely more fitting of a horror vibe!
