Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Fires and snow. That sums up my week. More fires broke out in the Los Angeles area this past week, and we have a snow storm coming this evening (although who knows, we might only get a few inches). I’d say I’m ready for January to be over, for lots of reasons. Here’s hoping February is better!
The hubby is leaving on a photo shoot tomorrow to Canada, so next week I’ll have some new photos to share (probably owls!). In the meantime, please enjoy one more Badger photo below. I hope everyone has a good week and stays safe and warm, wherever you are:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I have just enough month left to squeeze in two more January release reviews, so look for my thoughts on At the Bottom of the Garden and At Dark, I Become Loathsome this week. And although I have a couple more January books to read, I’m diving into my February pile first, and I’ll probably start with Listen to Your Sister and The Bones Beneath My Skin first.
Other posts this week:
Top Ten Tuesday is all about new authors you discovered last year, so stop by to see my choices; Wednesday I’ll share some cool new covers on Future Fiction; Friday is the end of January (!) so stop by to see my January Reading Wrap-Up; and Saturday it’s February! I’ll be sharing my February reading plans on What’s On My Plate.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Over-Booked [203] – January Book Haul
Beautiful Ugly by Alice Feeney – Review 4/5 stars
Greenteeth by Molly O’Neill – Review 5/5 stars
Ten More Recent Additions to My TBR
Wooing the Witch Queen by Stephanie Burgis – Review 4.5/5 stars

I hope February is better weatherwise as well. The cover of. Listen to Your Sister Certainly sets a mood. Have a great week!
Thanks Carla, you too!
I hope the snow will manage to quench the fires at least…In my corner of the world we’re experiencing spring in winter at the moment – it’s unusually warm (though the weather is crazy – this morning it was raining like the end of the world, and after a while the sun was shining beatifically…).
I hope Badger is enjoying his last days of modeling (at least for now) until the owls storm the place with a vengeance1! ;D But we all love a Badger.
I feel like weather is crazy everywhere! Ha ha the owls will never take Badger’s place;-)
Hope February brings better weather! We were really cold last week but this week is suppose to be decent.
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
Thanks Stormi, you too!
Nice nature photo of Mormon Rocks! Ugh, sorry you’ve been still dealing with the awful fires and now snow. I’d say the snow sounds nice, but hopefully it won’t hamper transportation. I hope the fires die down soon.
Luckily I don’t have to go anywhere until the weekend, and hopefully by then the roads will be clear.
Always love Badger pics! The fires are still scary! Do you see any ash or smoke from them? I remember when I visited Colorado in 2020 and they were having those fires and there was just ash coming down. We are done with snow for a while here hopefully! And a bit warmer temps coming in thankfully. Have a good week!
I drove into LA last week and saw smoke from a new fire, but I was still pretty far away. It’s windy so the smoke is spreading. I’m glad you have warmer weather coming!
Hope February brings better weather. Perhaps the snow might help.
Have a great week.
Yes, the snow and rain will definitely help the fires.
I’m all about the Badger photos! We are finally warming up to normal winter temps this week which are mild. My Minnesota clothes, especially the wool and alpaca socks are getting much use this winter. January feels like it is lasting forever.
I’m glad your weather is getting warmer. I just saw it’s going to be 60 degrees here this weekend, I’m excited:-)
The fact the fires are still burning is mind-boggling… Let’s hope the snow manages to put them out. I’ve got hold of a copy of Greenteeth, which I’m thrilled about. And I’m also excited to get to Wooing the Witch Queen – February promises to be a very good reading month. In the meantime, I hope you have a great week, Tammy.
February does have some wonderful sounding books! Good luck with your reads, I’ll look for your reviews:-)
Badger is amazing! Wishing you a great week!
Thanks Lisa, you too!
January has been challenging here too with my daughter moving to the US for several months! I hope February will be better. And I hope you won’t get too much snow!
We got about 8-9 inches, just enough to snow my car in and now we need to shovel! lol
I love Klune, so I’m excited about The Bones Beneath My Skin!
This will be my first Klune!
I saw that SoCal was getting rain so hopefully the fires will end. Safe travels to your hubs! January weather is never my favorite.
I hope the rain helps! Yep, I’m over January and it’s weather, lol.
Great pic.
And I hope the snow storm isn’t too bad! You guys are getting hit hard out there between that and the fires!
Can’t wait to read Beautiful Ugly.
Thanks Greg! Yes, it’s been a rough month in California…
Enjoy the snow!
It was a couple weeks ago we had ours and there’s still some left on the ground. I don’t recall the last time we had one snowfall last that long. It’s usually gone within a week, even if it’s a big snowfall. But it doesn’t appear it’ll last much longer.
Thanks Todd! We had snow about 3 weeks ago and it never melted, so we got snow on top of snow:-)
This has been the longest January in existence. I’m ready for it to be over too!
Right??? I’m glad it’s not just me:-)
Badger looks like he’s in his element out in nature. Happy reading this week, I am ready for January to be over!
He loves running around whenever he can:-) Happy reading!
You have had quite a January and I bet lots of people, me included, hope February is much better for all. Badger looks so happy in that photo. Hope you husband has a wonderful trip.
Thanks Barb! Badger is always happy:-)
January has been insane, I’m ready to move on to something new, too, lol. I’m very curious to hear your thoughts on all of your upcoming reads! I hope you’re having a great week!
Badger is such a beautiful boy!! But snow and fires are such a bad pair! So sorry about that!!
Definitely going to be checking out your review of At Dark I Become Loathsome. The audiobook fell into my lap for review but I’m not sure about it yet – that cover!
I hope your February is treating you nicer than January did.
