Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
My Christmas shopping is done, and my wrapping is almost done. I feel pretty good about not having to do a lot of last minute things before the holidays. My daughter has requested we make lobster mac & cheese for Christmas Eve dinner (!) We always have fun cooking together so I can’t wait. Now I just need to find a good recipe…
I hope everyone has a wonderful week and reads a bunch of good books!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
I realize this lineup looks a lot like last week’s. I barely read anything this week, I think due to just being distracted by holiday preparations, and also getting stuck on a slower paced book (The Daughters’ War). I decided to pick up a random book off my shelves (what a concept!) and because I recently saw a review for The Return on Lisa’s blog, I thought, why not? I’m almost finished with it and wow it’s super creepy! Look for a review this week. I will get back to The Daughters’ War, I just need to be in the mood. My next 2025 read will be Wake Up and Open Your Eyes. And I’m sorry to report that The Last One is a DNF. I gave it about 50 pages and I didn’t care for the weird mix of epic fantasy and contemporary dialogue. It was so jarring. Plus the plot wasn’t making much sense.
Other posts this week:
And the cover reveals keep on coming, which makes my Future Fiction post pretty easy to put together. See what new books/covers I’ve found on Wednesday! I will also dip in and out of the Countdown to 2025 prompts. Other than a review of The Return, I don’t have much planned this week. I am working hard on my Best of 2025 list, though!
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Countdown to 2025 – Day 13 Feast: A Book That Was Magnificent
Countdown to 2025 – Day 12 Holly & Ivy: A Book With Great Worldbuilding
Countdown to 2025 – Day 11 Mistletoe: A Little Bit of Romance
Ten Recent Additions to My TBR
Countdown to 2025 – Day 9: Fairy lights, something magical
Countdown to 2025 – Day 8 Baubles, A striking and colorful cover
Ouch! A DNF! I hear you about awkward mixes though.
Congrats on having all your Christmas preparations done…with ten days to spare. I’m impressed. Now you can focus on your reading…;)

Yes! I’ve been taking it easy this month and now I feel behind, lol.
That’s good you’re about ready for Christmas. I am almost ready too but still need to wrap presents. Happy reading, The Return looks good. The lobster mac & cheese sounds good too!

Thanks Emma!
I’m very impressed that you have most of your Christmas preparations done! I’m nowhere near finishing any of it. I will start properly looking forward to the holiday season when I’m a bit further ahead… Have a great week, Tammy.
You still have time! Thank you Sarah, I hope your week goes well:-)
Such a cool pic of the ram! Bummer about a DNF but it happens and just to many books!
Have a great week and happy reading!

I just couldn’t force myself to keep going, lol.
Ah, well guess I’ll be passing on The Last One. The cover really caught my eye, but it seems like the push to capitalize on the romantasy market means there are a lot of duds out there!

I really enjoyed the last book of hers I read, so it was very disappointing.
I still hope to finish some more hand crafted gifts but we will see. I need to get back to some ARCs this week!

I want to read at least two more January ARCs this month:-)
The Big Horn pic is incredible! I’m almost done with my shopping, I think I have one more gift to buy, but I’m still waiting on a few to be delivered because I ordered last week after finally getting ideas from certain family members. I was able to comment on a few blogs this past week at school, but your blog is blocked by the stupid firewalls at school, if I use my school computer. So ugh! Hope you have a good week coming up!

Thanks Lisa, I hope your week is good too. I keep seeing things I want to buy for people but I’m trying to cut myself off, lol.
I had no idea lobster mac & cheese was a thing! And congrats on being all organized for Christmas!
It’s the last thing I would think of to make for Christmas, but my daughter always comes up with crazy ideas:-)
I’m so excited that you’re reading The Return! Can’t wait to read your review!
I just finished it and I’ll post it tomorrow. I’m so glad you encouraged me to read it!
Lobster Mac n cheese sounds like a great dish to make and eat.

I agree! I’m a little scared but it will be an adventure:-)
I’ve never had lobster mac & cheese but it sounds delicious! My last presents for my family are coming this coming week and then I just have to wrap them and I’m done. Can’t believe how fast december is going!
I had it once and it was pretty delicious! I hope we can pull it off—and also find good lobster, lol.
Sorry to hear about the DNF. The lobster mac and cheese sounds yum. And yay on your for finishing all you shopping and wrapping.
I don’t DNF that often but this month it’s been hard to focus for some reason.
Mmmm…. I remember a great plate of lobster mac & cheese at a small restaurant at one of the harbor towns on Mount Desert Island in Maine. So very good. I hope yours is also fantastic!
Now you’re making me hungry:-)
I feel like I’ve barely read anything the past week, too! Idk why! Maybe it’s just general holiday busy-ness, but I’d like to read more than 25 pages a day lol.
Ha ha that’s me, about 25 pages and I lose my focus, lol.
The pic is beautiful, as always! And I am sorry for the DNF!!
I was sad about the DNF too.
That’s an awesome picture! So sad to hear about The Last One. I had planned on picking that one up.
You might like it more than I did, you never know!
Well done being so prepared. I wish I was in your boat.
Lynn 😀
