Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
It’s officially winter in the mountains, we just got our first (very light) snow of the season. I’ve been told this is called “graupel,” which is more like snow pellets than flakes. Still, it looks like snow to me! I hope your weather isn’t too bad, wherever you are:-)
Upcoming reads & reviews:
Yes, I am still making my way through The Swarm, but I’m finishing it this weekend if it kills me, lol. Meanwhile, I snuck in Snow Drowned this past week and had a lot of fun with it. Look for a review tomorrow. Next up is The Teller of Small Fortunes, and then I’m heading back into Cat Rambo’s extremely fun cozy space opera series and reading Rumor Has It.
Other posts this week:
Tuesday (for SciFi Month) I’m sharing a BIG list of 25 Science Fiction Books to Read in 2025, don’t miss it! Wednesday is Future Fiction and I’ll round up three new books/covers to share; I’m working on a new Ten Upcoming Books That Don’t Have Covers Yet, so I may post that later this week; and looking at the calendar, I need to share my November book haul this Saturday, since the last Saturday of the month will be my November wrap-up. Can you believe we’re halfway through the month already??
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Devil’s Gun by Cat Rambo – Review 4.5/5 stars
Ten Years of Sci Fi Month/Sci Fi November!
Badger is such a cute boy!! And snow!! Thos week snowed on the mountains around there too. Not a lot but enough to drop the temperatures!
Books wise I am curious to know what you would think of The Teller of Small Fortunes!!
Thanks Susy! I just started Teller of Small Fortunes and it’s very funny and cute so far.
That looks like snow to me too 😀 There are rumours we may get some around here soon but when they say that we usually don’t!
Looking forward to your Snow Drowned review, it’s a book I’ve not heard of before.
Our snow rumors are usually wrong too, lol. Especially before the winter really gets going.
Snow already!
Hope you enjoy your next reads. I’m struggling a bit with my current read. I might have to read some other books and dip in and out of it.
Lynn 😀
That’s what I do, I put it aside and read something else and then come back to it.
We’ve had graupel before (or however you spell it haha) & it was a first & very odd to experience when never having seen it before. Sounds kinda like sleet but looks like snow!
Yes, it was different from our normal snow. I’m sure “real” snow is on the way but honestly I’m not in a hurry to get it:-)
I’d never heard the term graupel but I have often seen those snow storms that were more pellets than flakes. Looking forward to your thoughts on both The Teller of Small Fortunes and Rumor Has It.
Graupel is a new word for me too. We have a “hobby” meteorologist who lives up here and posts weather updates on our Facebook page. She mentioned graupel the other day. And she is almost always right with her predictions!
I really need to get back on track with sci-fi month. The election totally derailed me. Looks like you’ve had some intriguing books to keep you distracted. Going to read 10 years of Sci-fi month for inspiration!
I know what you mean…It’s hard to focus these days.
Yay Badger! I look forward to the Scifi posts ahead. I still have to read the Cat Rambo post I ran out of time yesterday. It’s still open in a Browser window. You need to add the share to Bluesky or Threads buttons! It’s still 60s/70s here. but it’s dipping to the upper 30s at night.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
I haven’t added share buttons in so long I forgot how to do it, lol. I need to work on that. At least I was able to set up Jetpack to auto share my posts on Bluesky!
I didn’t know the word “graupel”. At least you’re not…snow drowned yet (see what I did here? ;D). Badger grew up to be such a big boy!

LOL I hope there’s no snow drowning this year!! And yes, Badger was supposed to be cattle dog sized but oops.
I just added The Teller of Small Fortunes to my TBR last week, I look forward to seeing what you think
Wishing you a great reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae, you too:-)
The started talking about graupel here a few years ago. I don’t even remember learning about it in my Meteorology class in college in the 90s! Snow Drowned is a book I can’t wait to read. Can’t wait to check out your review. Awesome picture of Badger! Have a great week!

Eww, keep that snow to yourself. 🙂 Next week is suppose to get a bit on the chilly side especially at night and I am not looking forward too it. I am counting down the days till spring. 🙂

LOL. I’m also counting down to spring but I feel like it will be a long winter here…
Ooh, first snow! Looking forward to this week’s reviews — have a great week!
You too!
Even though it’s winter, that’s a beautiful view. I’m looking forward to your review on The Teller of Small Fortunes when you get to it. It sounds like a good book.
Have a wonderful week!

I just started The Teller of Small Fortunes and so far it’s very good:-)
Been nothing but nice weather in Texas. Could use some rain those. Those are nice pictures of the mountains.
Have a great week.
You’re so lucky to have nice weather:-) Have a great week!
We are supposed to get our first snow Thursday. It seems too early. Look at Badger – such a good dog!
Hoping to get some snow this Friday but it’s most likely going to be rain. The east coast has been pretty wonky lately, yesterday I was in a t-shirt walking around outside still! I have been stalling on a couple of books I’m reading right now, but hopefully once it clears I can get to Swarm.

That’s some crazy weather! I don’t think we’re getting more snow for a while, it’s just cold.
Good luck with the snow! Ours didn’t last long, but we usually get most of our snow Jan – March.
