I’m feeling nostalgic, and so I decided to dig back into the dark recesses of this blog and find all my old SciFi Month posts. It turns out I’ve been participating since 2014, back when it was called Sci Fi November and hosted by a different team of bloggers! Which means that 2024 is my 11th year participating in this fun event. For each of the ten past years, I’m sharing the banner artwork as well as my favorite Sci Fi Month post from that year.
2014
Rinn Reads is no longer around, I’m so sad to say. I loved her blog:-)
My favorite post from this year was Top Ten Favorite Sci Fi Books Before I Started Blogging. There are some good books on here!
2015
This is the year the event changed to “Sci-Fi Month,” and the hosts were Rinn Reads & Over the Effing Rainbow.
So even though I did an introduction post, it seems I didn’t participate much in 2015. Also, my old posts are so cringey! LOL. But I did a cover poll asking readers to vote for their favorite 2015 sci-fi cover. I had 74 people vote! Let’s Take a Poll! Vote For Your Favorite Sci-Fi Book Cover of 2015.
2016
A new banner but the same hosts as 2015: Rinn Reads & Over the Effing Rainbow. I participated much more in 2016, although my posts were sort of meh? I did find this one, and I still agree with my choices! Tammy’s Top Five Sci-Fi TV Shows of All Time.
2017
Same banner, but new hosts! This is the year that Imyril from There’s Always Room For One More and Lisa from Dear Geek Place took over (I hope I got that right!) This is also the year I didn’t post anything very interesting for Sci-Fi Month, lol. The best post I could find is Twelve 2018 Adult Sci Fi Books I Can’t Wait to Read.
2018
2018 was the first banner to add the date (thank you!!) and was once again hosted by Imyril and Lisa. Again, I didn’t do much other than post lists and Waiting On Wednesday SF picks. Sigh. Here is 14 Awesome Science Fiction Books Coming Out in 2019 – The Adult Edition.
2019
Imyril and Lisa are at it again as hosts (thank you!), and I finally broke out of my rut and posted Science Fiction A-Z. I love doing A-Z posts!
2020
2020, and we’re deep into the COVID pandemic. So what do you do to escape? Participate in Sci Fi Month, of course. Imyril and Lisa are back for more, and this was the year I took on a huge project (and never did it again, simply because it was so much work) called Self-Published Sci-Fi Saturday, where I highlighted self-published authors and their SF books. Here’s an example: Self Published Sci-Fi Saturday #1.
2021
Imyril and Lisa are still at the helm, although they left off the year on the banner (oh well). This year I posted my 21 Best Science Fiction Books of 2021 (finally clueing into the “21 in 21,” “22 in 22” idea)
2022
This might be the last year it was just Imyril and Lisa hosting (must double check!) This year I posted one of my favorite posts, Previously, On SciFiMonth – Best SF Books of the Last Ten Years. I think I still agree with all these picks!
2023
Which brings us up to date! This is the year that Annemieke and Mayri joined Imyril and Lisa as hosts. One of my favorite posts from last year was Friday Fives – When will then be now?, where you pick your favorite alternate history stories.
I love the evolution of these banners and how each year they getter better and better! 😀

They do get better and better! Especially when Imyril came on board, they took a big turn for the better:-)
How lovely that it’s become such a long-running event to enjoy. I keep saying I’m going to join in with this. One day, maybe, next time 😀

It’s fun, but it does take a bit of planning and organization.
Awesome! It was interesting looking back at some of those older posts. The favorite TV show one brought back some great memories (and recent as I only added Stranger Things to my list this year).
Thanks Todd. It’s fun to revisit older posts. Some are a little cringey but some are interesting:-)
This is interesting, I’ve only been a part for like three years maybe? I didn’t realize it had been around for so long!
I’m feeling old right now, lol.
Wow Tammy! Ten years already!!! That’s a lot!
It’s hard to believe!
Hard to believe it’s been so long! I think I was here for all except the first year 🙂
The years fly by, right?? 😉
I first took part in 2015, and joined as host in 2017 when Rinn unfortunately had to step back – I was definitely making it up as I went along that year! I didn’t get on the banner game until the following year. I remember the 2021 artwork was gorgeous and SO HARD to work with, but I don’t think I deliberately left the date off I think the 2022 banners are my favourites, I was so pleased (and felt so lucky) when Simon Fetscher agreed to let us use his work.
I love that you included the credits in the round up, thank you ❤️ For completeness, the artist for 2018 was Greg Rakozy and 2019 was Sebastien Decoret.

Thanks Imyril! I’ve added the artist credits:-)
Ten years is a huge commitment!
I love that you rounded up a number of indie authors in 2020 (I didn’t know you yet, I guess, because this post series was new to me). I also love that year’s banner…and its message.

It was an ambitious idea and I’m glad I did it. But I couldn’t bring myself to do it again. Maybe on a smaller scale sometime…
I haven’t participated yet, but I definitely want to! I saw it for the first time last year, and I wasn’t much of a blogger then, but I might give it a try this year because it looks super fun

It’s fun to go to different blogs, I do love the community feel to it. Thanks for stopping by!
Wow I didn’t realise this event had been going on for so long, or that you’d taken part for so many years. I’m just about to check out a couple of the posts you’ve shared and also saving this to refer back to in the future as sci fi is a genre I majorly want to get into and it looks like there are lots of interesting lists that could help me do so. I love seeing all of the different banners too, so many of them are stunning.
What a lovely nostalgic post, Tammy:)). I’m not well enough to be able to participate in Sci Fi Month this year. I got sick in August and it’s really knocked me back into relapseland. Perhaps next year!
This is such a fun idea. 10 years, wow! I love looking at how everything has evolved over time. Maybe one year I’ll finally join in for sci-fi month (I tell myself every year, lol)! 2015 has some great covers from that post. What a great timeline to look back on!
I’ve been participating since 2016 – I can’t believe it’s been so long! 🙂
I can’t believe it’s been this long. Wow. Wish I’d got my act together this year.
Those banners are all so gorgeous.

So cool that you’ve been participating for so long! Fun to see the different banners. This is my first year.
Oh so cool! I like this look-back post. I forgot when I first learned of it, but every year since I keep wanting to participate but not being able to because the fall is when I’m busiest.
