Buffy’s Corner 9/8/24 – Looking at the Week Ahead

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

As I’m writing this on Saturday, we just had a brief but wonderful thunderstorm, and now everything is wet and smells like rain:-) It’s been hellishly hot throughout Southern California this past week, but I think temps are starting to cool down. Stay cool wherever you are!

Upcoming reads & reviews:

I blew through two books this week, So Thirsty and The Night Guest, so look for reviews of both this week. And both were very good! I’m currently reading An Academy for Liars and really enjoying it, and after that I’m picking up Negative Girl. It’s September 8th and I’ve already finished four of my September review books, so I’m hoping I can keep up the momentum (although I have some chunky books on my list, so probably not).

Other posts this week:

I don’t have a lot planned this week, other than Future Fiction on Wednesday and some reviews.

In case you missed:

My posts from last week:

Pay the Piper by George A. Romero & Daniel Kraus – Review 4/5 stars

Haunt Sweet Home by Sarah Pinsker – Review 3/5 stars

  1. I hope the lower temps stick! We should have had those by now, and we did, sort of…too bad that the climate is so humid we can’t seem to stay dry unless we don’t almost literally embrace a fan…

Sending encouragements! I’m sure you can and you will 🙂

I didn’t now an elk could bend that way LOL. Awesome pic as usual!

  2. Glad you had a cool down but here our nights have cooled down a bit to much! It’s still summer so I don’t expect 46 as a night time temp for summer, even if it’s getting close to the end. 🙁

Have a great week and happy reading!

  3. We had a bit of a rain storm followed by cooler weather Thursday, right in time for the Chiefs game. But they’re saying back up into the 80s by Wednesday, boo! I just bought a ticket to meet John Scalzi when he comes to KC at the beginning of October. I loved The Kaiju Preservation Society, so can’t wait! I want to read that Scalzi book you have listed too. Here’s hoping the cooler temps stick for you for a while. Love the elk photo too!

I don’t think I’ve ever met John Scalzi (maybe at Comic Con one year? I can’t remember), so that will be fun.

  4. So Thirsty looks very good. Four Books already, well done! It’s cooling off here too at night, but daytime temps are in the mid to high eighties (25-30 Celsius) so still not sweater weather.

  5. I’m hesitant to admit this for fear it’ll all change, but we’ve had some more comfortable temperatures lately, too. It’s such a great change from the highs, right? I look forward to your review of The Night Guest. I found the audiobook on sale and narrated by Mary Robinette Kowal and I’ve been considering purchasing it.

Sounds like lots of places are finally getting better temperatures, I hope yours stays in the comfortable zone:-)
