Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
The hubby is back from the Grand Canyon, and he got some amazing photos! I picked one out of many to share below. He doesn’t use filters or do any photo manipulation except for a minimal amount of balancing in Light Room, so those colors are the real deal. He took a bunch of animal photos as well, so I’ll share them over the next few weeks of Buffy’s Corner.
It’s getting hot here again, which doesn’t surprise me because isn’t Labor Day weekend always hot? Speaking of which, I hope everyone who gets the holiday off has a nice weekend. I took Friday off work, so I have a nice four-day break. I’m hoping to see my kids on Monday, and I’m trying to get my I’s and J’s catalogued and shelved in my home library (on going) project. Oh, and read, lol.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
September might crush me to death with the amount of new releases I want to read, lol. But I’m off to a good start, since I’ve finished Haunt Sweet Home and I’m in the middle of Pay the Piper. Look for reviews of both books this coming week! After that, I’m diving into my most anticipated book of the month, So Thirsty, and then maybe The Night Guest.
Other posts this week:
Monday I’m sharing my September TBR (spoiler: it’s HUGE!); Tuesday I’m doing a wrap-up post for my Summer of Horror reading event; and Wednesday is Future Fiction, so stop by to see some new books and cover reveals. Later in the week I’ll have a couple of reviews:-)
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
July/August 2024 Reading Wrap-Up
Crypt of the Moon Spider by Nathan Ballingrud – Review 4/5 stars
Glass Houses by Madeline Ashby – Review 4/5 stars
Ugh, the heat has been ramping up again here, too. I’m dying.
Enjoy your break, your kids…and your shelf cataloging LOL.
September is always a busy month with book releases, isn’t it?
Another stunning pic! Looking forward to more :).

Yes, September is extra this year, in my opinion:-) Thanks Roberta!
Awesome photo! I like the Badger one from Insta too. Today is our last day of heat and then north winds! It will be around 80 then and I can mow the lawn again which it needed for a couple days at least. Speaking of crushing amount of books you want to read in September, I relate completely as you will notice in my haul this week.
Thanks Anne! Enjoy your cooler weather:-)
That is an awesome photo!!
When it comes to the amount of books I want to read it makes me wish books were short again like my vintage books I collect! Books that some people could probably finish in an afternoon. Its one of the reasons I love them, they are short but still fun to read!
Have a great week and happy reading!

I love short books too, I mish I read more of them:-)
Great photo. And surprised there aren’t much filter and such applied.
Thanks! I’d love to see the Grand Canyon in person, but in the meantime I love looking at the hubby’s photos:-)
Labor Day weekend is usually miserable here, but we got a little break this year, and I’m loving it! That picture is gorgeous! I know what you mean about being behind or feeling overwhelmed with books to review! I’ve been that way in August, and I think September will be that way too. Hope you have a good week!

I think I’m going to stay behind for the next two months, lol. October and September both are full of review books for me!
Beautiful photo! I can’t wait to read So Thirsty, and look forward to hearing what you think of The Night Guest!
Thanks Lisa, I’m excited to get to both books:-)
That sunset of stunning!

Thanks Emma!
I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend! I had a book cataloguing project over the summer that did not get finished, though I was able to weed my bookshelves a couple of times. That’s a stunning photo of the Grand Canyon. Someday I hope to get there.

That is indeed a very stunning and beautiful shot at the Grand Canyons! I hope you get to rest during this long weekend as much as you can! Happy reading, Tammy! 😀

Thank you Lashaan!
I hope the heat isn’t too overwhelming. It’s been relatively cool here – in the low 70s/high 60s most of the time, but the days are noticeably growing shorter, which always makes me sad. I’m SO excited to see a new Tanya Huff book – I love her writing, particularly her fantasy which is always quirky. So thank you for that. And that photo of the Grand Canyon is simply stunning. Hope the rest of your long weekend is enjoyable and that you have a lovely week:).
Thank you Sarah! Enjoy your cooler weather. I’m also excited about the new Tanya Huff book:-)
I hope you’re able to get a little rest mixed in with all the other things you have planned. The Grand Canyon really is a sight to see. I remember those colors, as well as the textures and patterns of all those water eroded layers. The last time I was there was in the days of film cameras. 🙂
Ah those were the days! 😉
The photo of the Grand Canyon is beautiful, Tammy. I hope you have a nice visit with your kids today and have enjoyed the long weekend! As soon as everyone here wakes up, we’ll probably head to my mom’s to help her with a few projects. Mouse is hoping we can visit Barnes and Noble so we’ll likely head that way at some point too. I hope you are able to get to all the September reads you are anticipating. Have a great week and try to keep cool in this heat!
