July/August 2024 Reading Wrap-Up

Last month I struggled with reading and getting reviews posted, so I decided to combine my July and August wrap-ups into one post. So this looks like a lot, but it’s actually two months of reading. I’m also planning a Summer of Horror Wrap-Up in a separate post (probably next week), but for now, here are all the books I read and reviewed on the blog for the past two months (click on the titles to read my reviews):

Ghost Mother by Kelly Dwyer

I Was a Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst

The Nature of Disappearing by Kimi Cunningham Grant

We Love the Nightlife by Rachel Koller Croft

Ghost Camera by Darcy Coates

The Unmothers by Leslie J. Anderson

A Marriage of Undead Inconvenience by Stephanie Burgis

Filthy Rich Fae by Geneva Lee

Heads Will Roll by Josh Winning

A Sorceress Comes to Call by T. Kingfisher

Time’s Agent by Brenda Peynado

Crypt of the Moon Spider by Nathan Ballingrud

Glass Houses by Madeline Ashby

Wilderness Reform by Matt Query & Harrison Query

Key Lime Sky by Al Hess

Two Sides to Every Murder by Danielle Valentine

Let me know what your favorite August read was:-D

  1. Looks like a lot of horror, which fits the whole Summer of Horror theme, but looking closely there really is a nice range of genres and styles. And it’s great to see it still leans more heavily towards the 5 star end. My own favorite read of August was probably my reread of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. 🙂

  2. Wow it looks like you read a lot of fantastic books, so few are lower than four stars which is wonderful. Although I haven’t read any of them a few are on my TBR. My favourite read of August was either Heart Of The Sun Warrior or Starling House. Both were reads that I adored and so different that it’s hard to pick.

  3. Looks like a good month or reading. Know I was going to be off in the woods I combine my wrap up of July and August too.
Its hard to decide which book is the best. Because they all turn out to be great.

  4. I haven’t read any of those books but still want to read some of them. My favorite August reads would be Worst Case Scenario by TJ Neuman, This is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter and Spirit Crossing by William Kent Krueger.

  5. Glad I wasn’t the only one having struggled with reading and reviewing these last couple months. Just having a really distracted summer! I did get more horror reads finished but just no time to review them all before August is over!

I’ve had a streak of books I’m struggling to get into or they just aren’t what I expected, so I hope to pick up some winners soon:-)

  6. Thank you for sharing your July and August reads with us! I am looking forward to reading Spellshop and A Sorceress Comes to Call. A few of the other titles are calling to me too. I hope your September is full of great reads, Tammy!

  7. I feel like we read at LEAST half of the same books in July and August heh. I felt very similarly to you in just about all of them- I think I liked Key Lime Sky a bit more but all the others we pretty much agree on! I have SO many horror/thriller types coming up in September especially, I will be looking forward to seeing your thoughts for a lot of those, too!

  8. I’ve also had issues with a few books just recently. Not sure if it’s me or the books so I’ve put some aside for now and will try again at a later date.
    Lynn 😀
