Last month I struggled with reading and getting reviews posted, so I decided to combine my July and August wrap-ups into one post. So this looks like a lot, but it’s actually two months of reading. I’m also planning a Summer of Horror Wrap-Up in a separate post (probably next week), but for now, here are all the books I read and reviewed on the blog for the past two months (click on the titles to read my reviews):
Looks like a lot of horror, which fits the whole Summer of Horror theme, but looking closely there really is a nice range of genres and styles. And it’s great to see it still leans more heavily towards the 5 star end. My own favorite read of August was probably my reread of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. 🙂
I feel like it was a very good two months overall:-)
Wow it looks like you read a lot of fantastic books, so few are lower than four stars which is wonderful. Although I haven’t read any of them a few are on my TBR. My favourite read of August was either Heart Of The Sun Warrior or Starling House. Both were reads that I adored and so different that it’s hard to pick.
I really enjoyed Starling House too:-)
I think my fav read of August was Iron Flame. Tonight call, though, because my reads were all over the place with respect to genre.
I’m glad you enjoyed Iron Flame so much:-)
well done!
As you saw on my post, I had a hard time finding a favorite, as 4 or 5 were so so good, and in various genres.
I’m often in a Japanese mood, so let’s go with Poems of a Mountain Home: https://wordsandpeace.com/2024/08/31/2024-august-wrap-up/

Having too many good books to choose from is a good problem to have:-)
Looks like a good month or reading. Know I was going to be off in the woods I combine my wrap up of July and August too.
Its hard to decide which book is the best. Because they all turn out to be great.

I’m glad you had so many great reads:-)
I haven’t read any of those books but still want to read some of them. My favorite August reads would be Worst Case Scenario by TJ Neuman, This is Why We Lied by Karin Slaughter and Spirit Crossing by William Kent Krueger.

Thanks Lashaan;-)
Wow, you read a lot! 🙂 Of these, I’ve only read Sorceress so far, but loved it. I hope to get to Spellshop soon… there are always more and more books to read!
It’s never ending, right? 😉
Lots of interesting covers on those books. 🙂

I do love all these covers:-)
Glad I wasn’t the only one having struggled with reading and reviewing these last couple months. Just having a really distracted summer! I did get more horror reads finished but just no time to review them all before August is over!

I’ve had a streak of books I’m struggling to get into or they just aren’t what I expected, so I hope to pick up some winners soon:-)
Thank you for sharing your July and August reads with us! I am looking forward to reading Spellshop and A Sorceress Comes to Call. A few of the other titles are calling to me too. I hope your September is full of great reads, Tammy!

Thank you Wendy! I hope you have a fantastic month too:-)
I feel like we read at LEAST half of the same books in July and August heh. I felt very similarly to you in just about all of them- I think I liked Key Lime Sky a bit more but all the others we pretty much agree on! I have SO many horror/thriller types coming up in September especially, I will be looking forward to seeing your thoughts for a lot of those, too!

I’ve also had issues with a few books just recently. Not sure if it’s me or the books so I’ve put some aside for now and will try again at a later date.
Lynn 😀
I am sorry for the struggle, it is always so bad when we have problems reading, but at least it seems like you read a lot of good books!
