Looking Ahead: San Diego Comic Con 2024

Tomorrow I leave for San Diego to attend San Diego Comic Con! I haven’t been since 2019 (partly because of Covid, partly because I haven’t been able to get tickets), so I’m extra excited to jump back into the craziness. And because I love books and this is a book blog, my Comic Con experience will be primarily focused on publishers, authors and books. I’ve started to put together a list of panels I want to attend and authors I’d love to meet, but I haven’t seen all the publishers’ schedules yet, so this isn’t a complete list of what’s happening.

Books I’m hoping to snag:

This is a small sampling of books that I’m hoping will be available as either giveaways or purchases. I really want a copy of Lucy Undying, but that might be a hard one to get. I’m very excited about Memorials and The Queen, and I’m dying to meet Sarah Beth Durst, since I just finished The Spellshop and loved it! I also loved I Was a Teenage Slasher and of course I’d love to meet Stephen Graham Jones. Oh, and Chuck Tingle! I never received a review copy of Bury Your Gays, so it would be fun to meet him and get a signed copy.

Authors I’d love to meet:

Keanu Reeves/China Miéville | Kiersten White | Ava Reid | Allison Saft | Heather Walter | Delilah S. Dawson | Christopher Paolini | Olivie Blake | Sarah Beth Durst | T.J. Klune | Seanan McGuire | Chuck Tingle | CJ Leede | Rachel Howzell Hall | Jenn Lyons | Sarah Henning | Naomi Novik | Stephen Graham Jones | Christina Lauren | Richard Chizmar | Nick Cutter

These are just some of the authors I’ve seen listed for signings and panels. Obviously I won’t get to meet all of them, but we shall see:-)

So there is my SDCC sneak peek! Let me know if you’re going to be there too:-D

  1. I bet it’s gonna be crowded! I hope you get to meet a bunch of these authors and look forward to hearing about it all when you get back.

  2. Oh yay, I hope you have a wonderful time! I have not been to a book event since 2019 either, so I shall live vicariously through you telling us about it! I hope you get ALL the amazing books, and meet all the authors you hope to- or at least, the most important ones! Will you do anything else while you’re there? I have never been to such a huge, multimedia event, I bet it is such a cool experience! I can’t wait to read all about it!

  3. I think the author meets at conventions are the best part, since as reviewers we can get a lot of the books. But seeing an author and getting stuff signed, that’s an opportunity of a lifetime!

  4. I really want to go to a book event like this. But at the same time I know they’d be too busy for me good luck getting the books you hope for though. I’d definitely love the chance to pick up Lady Macbeth and Lucy Undying in particular but so many of the ones you’ve listed are on my tbr. And meeting those authors would be amazing. I hope that you have an incredible time. It looks like there are some truly fantastic opportunities for meetings there.
