Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!
Lots of books have arrived in my mailbox and Kindle in the last couple of weeks, and I’m looking forward to reading ALL of them. Titles are linked to Goodreads if you’d like more information!
Books in the mail for review:
Horror stack! I’m so excited for each of these. First up, huge thanks to Del Rey for a copy of Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman. This is getting some good buzz and I can’t wait to read it:-)
Probably the book I’m most excited for came courtesy of Titan Books: Small Town Horror by Ronald Malfi, one of my most favorite authors! This is June release, and I’m calling it, June is going to be EPIC.
With thanks to Berkley, I’m really looking forward to The House That Horror Built by Christina Henry. Her books are always fun and unpredictable, so I’m very curious to read this. (Note: I ended up with an extra ARC, lol, so if you live in the U.S. and want it, please comment below!
Pay the Piper by George A. Romero & Daniel Kraus was new to me when I got the pitch, and I couldn’t be more excited to read something else from Kraus, who’s Whalefall was my favorite book last year. Big thanks to Kaye Publicity for the review copy:-)
And with thanks to Tor Nightfire, I received a finished copy of Ghost Station by S.A. Barnes, which I recently reviewed and loved.
Now on to fantasy and some graphic novels! Huge thanks to Angry Robot for a copy of The Hunter’s Gambit by Ciel Pierlot. This is a vampire fantasy, I believe, and I loved Pierlot’s last book so this should be good.
Daughter of the Merciful Deep by Leslye Penelope is a historical fantasy with a gorgeous cover. Big thanks to Orbit Books for this beauty!
The Unrelenting Earth by Kritika H. Rao was a surprise, I remember turning it down because I haven’t read the first book in the series. But I guess Titan sent a copy anyway, thank you Titan:-) (Note: if you live in the U.S. and want my ARC, please let me know!)
With thanks to Dead Sky Publishing, I received The Case of the Bleeding Wall by Kasey Landsdale & Joe R. Landsdale, which is a short graphic novel. I’ve read one of their previous books and really had fun with it, so I’m looking forward to this change of pace. The publisher also threw in Deprog #1, which doesn’t have a description. But hopefully I can read it and let you know more.
Digital books for review:
All my digital books today are shades of green:-)
I was thrilled to find out Cheryl Low has a new book coming out, I had no idea! The Wicker Witch sounds really good and releases in just a couple of weeks, so I hope to read it very soon.
Keith Donohue is an author I’ve enjoyed in the past, and I just found out he has a new book coming out too! The Girl in the Bog looks very creepy and has elements of Irish folklore. I can’t wait to dive in:-)
I recently featured Model Home by Rivers Solomon on Future Fiction, so it was easy for me to push that “request” button on NetGalley, lol.
Finally, I’ve been reading some glowing reviews of Mal Goes to War by Edward Ashton, but I never got around to requesting a copy. Even though it was released earlier this month, it was still available on NetGalley, so against my better judgement (did I really need ANOTHER book?) I grabbed it.
Big thanks to Crystal Lake Publishing, Crooked Lane Books, MCD and St. Martin’s Press.
I hope you enjoy all of these. I have so many books by Christina Henry but I somehow haven’t read any of them yet I was going to ask how you found The Surviving Sky when I spotted its sequel but then I saw that you hadn’t read it either. I’m really intrigued by that one so I’m going to have to try and check it out soon.
In regards to Christina Henry I meant on my tbr, I don’t actually own any of them.
I’ve heard really good things about The Surviving Sky, maybe I’ll try to read it at some point:-)
Another exciting looking haul. Hope you enjoy all these 😀

Thanks, I’m excited about all of them:-)
I’ve only read The Mermaid by Christina Henry and really liked that one so I’m looking forward for your thoughts on The House That Horror Built. It sounds good!
Stephanie @ Bookfever recently posted…First Line Friday & The Friday 56: Calypso by Oliver K. Langmead
It does sound good, I will let you know:-)
There are so many great sounding books coming out!
There really are, I wish I had more time to read:-)
The Girl in the Bog looks great! I think I’ve only read one book by Keith Donohue, but I loved it, and I’m looking forward to hearing more about this one. Definitely planning to read the Christina Henry, and I’m tempted by that Josh Malerman too. Enjoy!
I’m so excited for The Girl in the Bog!
As always some interesting looking books. Enjoy!
Thanks Stormi!
Glad the uncluttering is going well Oh, and Tammy? One of your greens is blue
LOL blue green!
I’ve seen lots of positive reactions to Kritika Rao’s first book, so I hope you enjoy its continuation! I’d so like to read it, but of course this book nerd has plenty of other stuff to read instead lol!
Celeste | A Literary Escape recently posted…King of Battle and Blood by Scarlett St. Clair
I may put the series on the backburner for another time:-)
Great haul! Look forward to hearing what you think of Daughters of the Merciful Deep
I think it sounds great, I can’t wait:-)
I hope you’ll love all of them!! They all sound amazing!!
Thanks Susy!
More Malfi! 🙂 It’s nice seeing graphic novels pop up every so often. I don’t read as many of them as I’d like. And I’m becoming increasingly curious about Mal Goes to War, so I’d love to hear your thoughts if you read it.
Yes, more Malfi, always a good thing:-) I want to read Mal Goes to War because I’ve been hearing good things too. Plus I really want to try the author.
I have many of the same books show up earlier this month! I can’t wait to check out Small Town Horror!
Me too, not sure I can wait until June:-)
So many good books – but without doubt the Ronald Malfi is probably my most highly anticipated. Can’t wait.
Lynn 😀
