Over-Booked [191] – A Book Haul Post

Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!

I received some awesome books in the last couple of weeks, some of which I will be reading very soon, take a look:

Books in the mail for review:

Murder Road by Simone St. James. I’ve already read this and really enjoyed it! Huge thanks to Berkley for this nice finished copy.

Poisoned Pen Press has some awesome horror books coming out this year, starting with The Drowning House by Cherie Priest. This is a July release so I probably won’t read it right away, but I’m really looking forward to it. Thank you PPP!

And I’m thrilled to have a copy of The Redemption of Morgan Bright by Chris Panatier, which is an April release. I love Chris’s writing, and I hear this is a mind bender! Big hugs to Angry Robot for the review copy:-)

Indian Burial Ground by Nick Medina is another April release that I hope to read soon. This sounds so good, and the ratings on Goodreads are very promising. Thank you Berkley!

The Princess of Thornwood Drive by Khalia Moreau actually came out last year, but I was just offered a copy for review from the Orbit team. This is a fantasy involving sisters, and I think it sounds great! Thank you Forever:-)

Finally, I received Where the Darkness Stands Still by A.B. Poranek. This is  YA fantasy that was released last month, so I will try to find a way to fit it in. Big thanks to Simon & Schuster/McElderry Books for this lovely hardcover:-)

Digital books for review:

Just a few new digital books this week:

I’m very excited to be approved for Two Sides to Every Murder by Danielle Valentine. I absolutely love this author, so I’m curious to see how she handles YA.

I decided to take a chance on If I Stopped Haunting You by Colby Wilkins since it was “read now” on NetGalley. I’d never heard of this before, but wow, now I can’t wait to try it!

I cannot wait to read Oliver K. Langmead’s Calypso, which comes out next month. Langmead is such an underrated talent, I wish more people would read his books.

Finally, The Dead Spot: Stories of Lost Girls by Angela Sylvaine sounds so good. I have another of Sylvaine’s books that I haven’t had time to read yet, maybe I can squeeze both in this year.

Big thanks to G.P. Putnam’s Sons, St. Martin’s Griffin, Titan Books and Dark Matter INK/Angela Sylvaine:-D

Are you planning to read any of these books?

  1. If I Stopped Haunting You has a great cover, it makes me want to know more about the book so I can see why you went for the chance to read it.
Where the Darkness Stands Still looks like it would suit my current reading mood.
Hope you enjoy all these 😀

  2. I love the cover of Indian Burial Ground, but the synopsis doesn’t sound like my cup of tea. But I also have Where the Darkness Stands Still (as a preorder) & I’m definitely looking forward to reading it…the cover is even prettier in person! There’s something about the art I really love, probably because I’m drawn to slightly haunted-looking art styles.

  3. Nice book haul. I stopped asking for physical books since I gave away all of my books to a used book store. No space! Enjoy.

I totally understand. I don’t have space either but I love physical books too much to worry about it.

  4. How many interesting titles!! I have a couple of them, too, and I am really looking forward to them! (Calypso and The Redemption of Morgan Bright). And I never heard about If I stopped Hunting You but now I am curious!!

  5. I had to put Where the Dark Stands Still Aside earlier this month, just because I needed something a little more engaging. The writing and story was beautiful though, I might go back to it depending on my mood but hope you have an easier time with it!

I’m already late with Where the Dark STands Still, but hopefully I can try it in the coming months.

  6. I love Cherie Priest’s steampunk books but I’m not a horror reader, so I’ve read only one of her horror books. I’m looking forward to your review of the Drowning house.
