Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
For a short work week (Monday was a holiday), it seemed to go on forever, lol. And now the weekend is almost over. At least I’ve been reading some good books!
Upcoming reads & reviews:
It was actually a great reading week. Maeve Fly was CRAZY. And definitely not for everyone. Check out my review tomorrow. After Maeve Fly, I needed a big palette cleanser, lol, so I picked the most opposite book I could: The Seven Year Slip. And wow I LOVED it! And you know me, I don’t read contemporary romance, like ever. But I loved everything about this book. My review will be up Thursday. I’ve started both The First Bright Thing and Night’s Edge, but I am not loving the writing style of The First Bright Thing, so I may put it aside for a bit. Has anyone else read this? I’m curious if it’s just me.
Other posts this week:
On Tuesday, I’m doing a twist on the Top Ten Tuesday topic, “Summer book covers;” Wednesday I have some cool covers to share on Future Fiction; and I’m hoping to help one of my favorite authors with a cover reveal for her upcoming book on Friday. Hmm, I guess this week is going to be cover heavy, lol.
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
Graveyard of Lost Children by Katrina Monroe – Review 3.5/5 stars
Read an Excerpt: You Look Beautiful Tonight by L.R. Jones
What’s On My Plate – June 2023
Deadly Memory by David Walton – Review 4/5 stars
Ooo…. the sheen on those ibis feathers is giving me goosebumps… I’m delighted you like The Seven Year Slip so much as I’ve been tempted by that one – like you, I don’t read contemporary romance all that often, but on the occasions I have recently, I’ve been pleasantly surprised that the rather toxic formula of overbearing male bullying a younger, often conflicted girl that was so prevalent in my youth seems to have given way to far more enjoyable tropes. Looking forward to the summer book covers and have a great week, Tammy:)).
The Seven Year Slip was so much fun, and I think you’d love it:-) Hope your week is good as well!
Very glad to hear you’ve been reading some good books. Your transition from Maeve Fly to The Seven Year Slip, so very different, reminds me of a food transition I may have mentioned once about first eating a piece of Cheesecake Factory’s Godiva chocolate cheesecake and then following it up with key lime pie cheesecake. Sometimes these extreme transitions make both things seem that much better. 🙂
OK now you’re making me hungry for cheesecake, lol:-)
That green ibis is amazing! And to think that I just commented on The First Bright Thing being everywhere on your earlier post Tammy! LOL
Thanks Sophie!
Great photo. Sometimes a genre change up really makes everything better. I am usually reading an audiobook and ebook at the same time and I find it best to not have them in the same genre. Happy reading!

That makes sense. I do get confused when I’m reading two similar books at the same time.
Can’t wait to see your reviews for the books you have this week! I am curious about them both…lol.
Have a great week and happy reading!

Thanks Stormi, you too:-)
Short weeks always seem to go on forever lol. Maeve Fly looks wild from the reviews I’ve seen.

It was wild! Have a good week, Greg:-)
I can’t wait for your review of The Seven Year Slip since it’s contemporary romance and you seem to have really loved it. And as per usual the photo your husband took of the Green Ibis is so beautiful. Ibises (is that the correct way to write it? :P) are some of my favorite birds. I love them so much!

It was such a different book for me, I may have to change the focus of my blog, lol. Thanks Stephanie!
Can’t wait to read your reviews on Maeve Fly and The Seven Year Slip, especially since you don’t really read romance for that second one! Short weeks always seem to last longer, don’t they? And as always, the bird picture is beautiful! Have a great week!

Lol I guess that makes sense!
LOL I’m right there with you on Maeve Fly! I felt like I needed a palate cleanser after that too.
I actually ended up loving Maeve Fly, which surprised me because of so much “ick.” lol
I’m really looking forward to your review of The Seven Year Slip. I recently enjoyed a contemporary cozy mystery which was a lovely surprise so I’ve been looking out for other new things that I might enjoy just as much.
What a gorgeous photo, such lovely colours 😀
My review of The Seven Year Slip will be up Thursday. I was so surprised how much I loved it!
Yay, I have your palette cleansing book on my TBR so I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it. 🙂
I hope you love it too:-)
I didn’t know Ashley Poston had a new book out! I don’t love Poston’s YA stuff but I LOVED The Dead Romantics so I’m going to have to check this new one out. 😀
