Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!
I had an influx of book mail these past couple of weeks, so I thought I’d better get a book haul post up!
Physical books for review:
I requested a few books from Gallery/Saga, but to be honest I wasn’t expecting to get them. So it was a big surprise to receive the first three books, all of which I’ve featured here before. The Strange will be my first book by Nathan Ballingrud, who I always hear good things about. This releases next month, so it will be on my March TBR:-)
Ooooh and I’m thrilled to have this beautiful little bound galley of More Perfect by Temi Oh! I absolutely loved Temi’s last book and I’ve been waiting years for this to come out!
AND I’m so happy to receive this beautiful finished copy of The Thick and the Lean by Chana Porter. The story sounds so interesting, and that cover! Huge thanks to Gallery/Saga Press for these copies:-)
And more big thanks go to Poisoned Pen Press for the next two books, which I’m very excited to dive into: The Girl From Rawblood is a reprint, one of Catriona Ward’s earlier books. This one comes out in a couple of weeks, so I’ll be reading it soon. And Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates is a book I’ve talked about several times! I loved the last book of hers I read, so this should be fun.
From the lovely Orbit team, I received a copy of Paradise-1 by David Wellington. I don’t think I checked the page count before I requested this, lol, because it’s over 700 pages!!! But I’m still excited to read it. Thank you Orbit!
With thanks to Kaye Publicity, I was sent Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, which is the first book in an epic fantasy romance series that is getting rave reviews. Dragons!
Finally in the physical pile, author Eli K.P. William contacted me and asked if I’d like to read the 2nd and 3rd books in his Jubilee Cycle series. I really enjoyed the first book, Cash Crash Jubilee, and I said I’d try to fit The Naked World and A Diamond Dream in soon. Thank you Eli:-)
Digital books for review:
Super happy to be approved for A Twisted Love Story, which will be my first Samantha Downing book!
I had to download Thornhedge by T. Kingfisher as soon as it popped up on NetGalley, of course.
All the Dead Lie Down by Kyrie McCauley is a YA Gothic romance that sounds really good. Look at me, taking a chance on YA!
From T.L. Bodine, I received a copy of Neverest, which sounds like a fun horror/thriller that revolves around Mount Everest.
And last but not least, author David Walton offered me a copy of Deadly Memory, which is the sequel to the extremely fun Living Memory, which I reviewed last year.
Big thanks to Berkley, Tor Books, Katherine Tegen Books, T.L Bodine and David Walton:-D
I’ve started reading Paradise-1 and so far I’m feeling somewhat disappointed because the overall tone is… weird, for lack of a better word: the situation the characters find themselves in is quite dramatic, but they feel almost detached from it. I look forward to your comments to see if it’s just a matter of personal preferences or not…

Oh no, I am looking forward to comparing notes at some point!
Wow, so many! I just got an ARC of Thornhedge too, and I’m so excited for it (but will wait to read it until closer to publication). I don’t know anything about The Thick & The Lean, but I’m fascinated by that cover. Hope you enjoy all of th ese!
Thanks Lisa!
I look forward to your reviews so I know which ones will be best suited to my tastes. It’s always hard when one wants to read so many.
It is hard! Maybe I will convince you to read a few:-)
Influx is a fitting word, lol.
700 pages… it better be good, though Maddalena’s comment doesn’t sound too promising.
Do you DNF books when you receive them for free? Personally, I only DNF if I received it wthout requesting it. If I request it I read to the end, whatever the quality

I know, and Maddalena and I often have similar opinions on books. I have DNF’d review books but I really try not to.
I’d like to try Dead of Winter and Thorn Hedge, though several others looks equally interesting. Always so hard to choose.
You can read them all if you want;-)
Looks like some cool books! 🙂 Enjoy!

Thanks Stormi:-)
I already pre ordered Fourth Wing!!!!
Oh cool, I had never heard of it until now, but it sure sounds good.
So many great new books! I need to read the David Walton series. Love the cover of this second one!

His series is a lot of fun!
Paradise-1 is over 700 pages?! This is bad, bad news for my March TBR, as I have 17 April books, this among them. I sob. I too am DYING to read More Perfect so I am quite jealous heh. The Strange was quite good, I thought! I hope you like it too! Dead of Winter and The Thick and the Lean and Thornhedge are all on my TBR, so fingers crossed that those are good! Now I shall go check out the ones I am not familiar with, too! Hope you love these!

OH wow 17?? I have 15 March books and I don’t read as fast as you do. I guess we’re both in trouble;-)
I can’t believe the buzz around Fourth Wing, I hadn’t heard of it when I got a copy but now I’m quite curious!
It wasn’t even on my radar, lol. I’m looking forward to it!
Fourth Wing sounds like my kinda thing. I’ll look out for your review when you get to it.
It does sound good, right?
Paradise-1 is only 680 pages, Tammy. I cannot believe you exaggerated so badly
