The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
On the Savage Side by Tiffany McDaniel won’t be released until February 14th, but there are already a couple of covers to compare. Take a look:
Knopf edition, 2023. This is the edition I read, and it fits the story perfectly. The story revolves around a pair of twin girls and their harsh childhood. I love this cover, but I love the next one even better.
UK edition, 2023. I love this cover! This depicts a poignant scene in the book, when twins Arc and Daffy and their friend Sage Nell find an old car by the river, and it becomes their special hang out.
It seems like both covers fit the story, and this is not so usual! But, since I haven’t read the book, I prefer the first one, just for esthetically reasons!
Oh I’m glad you explained, because in the second coer, the guy looked dead to me, which looked a bit weird in an almost lol pastoral ambiance. So I prefer the 1st cover.

I can’t wait to read this and I really like that UK cover. Thanks for sharing!
Neither of these really appeals to me but I’ll pick the top one.
Great choice this week! I personally prefer the first cover if I have to really pick. 🙂
First cover for me!!
At first glance, that second cover looked like a scene of an accident! I wasn’t sure what to think, lol
I love them both for quite different reasons:)). And for once, I cannot choose. I suppose the top cover will be the more marketable – but I love the rawness and poignancy of the bottom cover… Thank you for sharing, Tammy:)).
