Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
It’s been a lovely long vacation week for me, and it’s going to be very hard to go back to work tomorrow. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Has anyone joined Hive Social yet? Lots of authors are jumping the Twitter ship and going over there instead, and I’m thinking about it. Let me know if you’ve joined and if you like it or not.
Upcoming reads & reviews:
Sigh. I’m in the worst reading/blogging slump ever. I’m currently trying to read three different books and not making much progress on any of them. My SciFiMonth reading has been a bust this year. I’m about halfway through All the Blood We Share, at 6% on Wayward, and I set aside Nightwatch Over Windscar because I just couldn’t focus. I may pick up some lighter books next, like In the Shadow Garden or The Serpent in Heaven.
Other posts this week:
It’s the end of SciFiMonth, so I’m cramming in a couple more posts. On Tuesday, look for my Best Science Fiction Books of 2022 So Far; Wednesday is my SciFiMonth Wrap-Up post (with an international giveaway!); Thursday is December 1st {!} so I’ll be sharing my December reading and blogging plans; and The Friday Face-Off is “assassins.”
In case you missed:
My posts from last week:
The Friday Face-Off: Fairy Tale
The Hollows by Daniel Church – Review 4/5 stars
Ten Adult Science Fiction Books to Read in 2023
Previously on SciFiMonth – Best SF Books of the Last Ten Years
It does sound like you need a lighter read right now. Good luck climbing out of that pesky reading slump! I love the hubby’s photo! At first I thought it was black-and-white until I saw the bird’s eyes.

I think he adjusted the color on the photo, but the bird’s eye really is that red:-)
Hopefully you can get out of your slump soon, that always sucks when you just can’t concentrate on your books. Glad you had a good vacation and Thanksgiving. Love that bird picture!
Have a great week and happy reading!

Thanks Stormi, you too!
Let me know (when you can) your thoughts about both “Wayward” and “In the Shadow Garden.” I’m debating on whether or not I should read those books sooner rather than later.

I’ll definitely be reviewing them:-)
I hope you got the break you needed this week. When I slump I try a different genre or slightly different. Or I just read a mystery thriller because I never tire of those. I am going to start on Wayward soon. I setup stuff on Mastodon where the romancelandia.club server has a bunch of authors, so I have looked at Hive social but I see lots of people setting up there too.

I’ve been hearing good things about Mastodon, I may check it out as well.
I’ve been having a bit of an audiobook slump this past month. Finally into one that is keeping my interest. I’m looking forward to seeing what you think about All the Blood We Share because it sounds really good! Hope you get over that reading slump!

Thanks Lisa! I hope we both get over our slumps:-)
I technically joined Hive, but I can’t get it to let me add a profile pic so my account is just kind of sitting there for now.

Interesting. I’m going to join soon, if only to check it out and see who’s on there:-)
I’m thinking about joining Hive, too. I don’t want to, but it sounds like people may actually be talking about books there which they don’t seem to do on Twitter anymore… Sorry you are in a slump! I’m having trouble focusing, too. I’ve been DNFing books that are just too much for me right now.

I know what you mean about not wanting to join another social media platform, it’s exhausting just thinking about it!
Going back to work really is going to be difficult… 🙂 I hope you’re able to navigate smoothly through the reading slump. Lighter books sometimes make all the difference.
That is the plan. My brain isn’t in top form for anything too complex:-)
I hope you had a great thanksgiving! I’ll be sorry to see it go (all the food I mean) ha ha but it was fun while it lasted. 🙂 I haven’t joined Hive yet, I’ve been thinking about it… I’m so torn, like do I want to join another social media or just… ride it out?
I hope the slump gets better. I need to get some new books, I have not been reading that much…
Love that pic!

Thanks Greg! I know what you mean about ANOTHER social media. I can barely stay on top of the ones I do now:-)
Is that Charlaine Harris part of the Gunnie Rose series? I haven’t read any of those yet, but it looks like my book group will be reading the 1st in the series early in 2023. Hope you have a good week!
Yes! It’s book #4. I’ve really enjoyed the series so far, I hope you have fun with it!
Al those books look cool. Hope you get out of your reading slump.
Have a great week.

I started a hive account over the weekend but haven’t had time to really explore it yet. On the surface it seems like an interesting combo of twitter and Instagram. I really struggle with social media so no idea if I’ll keep up with it or not, lol.

I’m not in a reading slump exactly but after reading so many nonfiction books this past month I’m not mad that it’s almost December 😛 I have made a Hive account but haven’t used it much yet, still need to find some time to really check it out.
Sorry about the slump 🙁
I’m slowly getting used to Mastodon, Hive seems very similar to Insta which I’m not that keen on.
Wishing you a great reading week
I’m struggling a bit with my two current reads but just need to press on I think and see if one of them takes hold. I haven’t joined the Hive – just waiting to see how things pan out.
Glad you enjoyed your holidays.
Lynn 😀
I didn’t like Twitter and Hive has security issues right now (no double authentication, no unique identification number)… so I’ll wait or simply pass!
If it helps, I’m with you on the reading/blogging slump. I was doing okay for a little while but it’s back on at full force, haha. I’ve been reading one eARC for nearly a month and I’m only halfway through.
I haven’t heard much about Hive Social so am only vaguely familiar with it, but if enough authors/etc. join, maybe it’d be worth it to switch! Pretty much the only reason I use Twitter is for authors/book bloggers/etc. and I get tired of everything else, haha.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving and that your week goes well (and your slump improves!)!. 🙂

Maybe it’s the holidays because I’m feeling in a slump too, having a real tough time concentrating on reading and it feels like I’ve been reading my current books forever! I hope you’ll enjoy All the Blood We Share though. That one was pretty entertaining, I blew right through it!
The dreaded reading slump, I hope it passes soon for you. I felt a bit like that until I started Sea of Tranquility, which I’m really enjoying.
