And here we are in the home stretch of 2022: the fourth quarter of the year. Boy did 2022 go fast! The fourth quarter is sort of a weird mix for me. October and November are heavily loaded with highly anticipated books, but December is usually very quiet on the publishing front and this year is no exception. In fact I currently only have one review book planned for that month, although that could change. So I’m going to use December as a catch up month, and below I’ll list a few “must read” past due review books. At the end of this post, I’ll show you how I did last quarter! Here are my top five most anticipated books for the months of October, November and December (please note that some dates may have changed. I try to keep up with release date changes but I don’t always catch them all)
October 2022 Most Anticipated:
I believe The Witch in the Well‘s release date was pushed from September, but in any case I cannot wait to read it, even though I see some mixed reviews on Goodreads.
Little Eve will be my third Catriona Ward book, and it’s getting lots of buzz and good reviews. I love stories about cults and I hope this is good.
Lute by Jennifer Thorne is also about a cult, I think (I could be wrong). This book is also getting a ton of great reviews. The cover is so evocative and I can’t wait to read it!
Let’s switch gears now and talk about Lavender House by Lev A.C. Rosen. This is being described as “Knives Out with a queer historical twist” and I already know some bloggers who have read and loved it.
I will have probably already finished Station Eternity by Mur Lafferty by the time this post goes up. It’s quite a change of pace from her last book, Six Wakes.
November 2022 Most Anticipated:
November is the Month of Sequels for me!
This might be a first. Camilla Bruce has TWO new books out this quarter! And I couldn’t be happier because I’m such a fan of hers. All the Blood We Share sounds much different from The Witch in the Well.
Wayward by Chuck Wendig is the sequel to Wanderers, a book I never thought would have a sequel, yet here we are! This is a big boy at over 800 pages. Wish me luck!
Reckoning by W. Michael Gear is book six in his fantastic Donovan series, and I am so freaking excited to read it!
Another sequel, Nightwatch Over Windscar by K. Eason is book two in The Weep series, a fantastic sci-fi story set in the same world as Eason’s Rory Thorne series.
Finally, I’m super excited to check out White Horse by Erika T. Wurth. This appears to be a ghost story/mystery and it sounds pretty amazing.
December 2022 Most Anticipated:
The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton is my only official review book for December (as of writing this post anyway), and it’s getting some excellent early buzz.
And now for my “catch up” books, starting with Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield. I was so sad I didn’t have time to read this earlier in the year.
Likewise, The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas was a highly anticipated May release I just couldn’t get to. Take two!
Dead Water by C.A. Fletcher is probably my biggest regret of the year, but I’ll do my best to take care of that by the end of December.
Last but not least, I’d love to finish Fairy Tale by Stephen King. I love it so far, and I’m determined to finish it:-)
Here’s how I did last quarter. It might not look like I did well, but hear me out. I’ve actually started three of these, and The Witch in the Well changed its pub date (see above). The Devil Takes You Home is an official DNF. I just wasn’t enjoying it at all, which was disappointing because so many people loved it. And I started A Taste of Gold and Iron, but it was so slow I took a break and still haven’t gone back to it. I’ve also started Fairy Tale but was overwhelmed with review books and set it aside for now. So technically, there’s only one book on the list that I wasn’t able to read!
A new Donovan book on the horizon is truly something to look forward to: I’m beyond curious to see where the author will take us this time, and what new dangers the planet has in store for the colonists…. 🙂

Me too, I may have to dive in early:-)
Looks like a great selection of books. I probably won’t read them until next year at the rate I’m going, but I am very excited for Wayward and Little Eve. I’m actually trying to fit in The Hacienda this month if I finish Empire of the Vampire, which yes I FINALLY started this past weekend, lol).
I’m excited to see what you think of Empire of the Vampire. I STILL haven’t read it!
The book here I’m most looking forward to is Wayward. I also didn’t expect this to turn into a series. Hopefully that ends up being a good thing, though. 🙂 I’m also still curious about Fairy Tale. Nice work checking off books this quarter. This is something I’ve not tried yet. I have a list of things I’d like to read soon/next but haven’t set a specific goal and then compared to how I did.
I don’t do a lot of reading goals but I do keep track of these quarterly lists. One day I’ll hit 100%!
What? Camilla Bruce has ANOTHER book coming out? I’ll have to check out All the Blood We Share!

Isn’t that crazy? Two different publishers:-)
So many good ones coming up! I’m reading Station Eternity now, and will likely read Lavender House next, then Lute. I do want to read the Wanderers sequel, although I’m scared that I won’t remember enough from the 1st book to really appreciate it. Plus… so long!! There’s never enough time to read everything I want to get to. Good luck!
I know what you mean! And Wayward is so long, I almost want to start it now so I can finish before the release date:-)
There’s some books here I would love to fit in my schedule. We will see.
That’s always the question, right? If we have enough time…
I can’t wait for Lavender House and Station Eternity. Happy reading!
Thanks Lauren, you too!
We have like ALL the books in common basically! So I read Reckoning, and it was good, but definitely more character driven than the others. Which is fine with me, I like a variety heh. I also LOVED Station Eternity and Lute! I need to start Wayward ASAP because it will legit take me the rest of October to finish it! But seriously like every single book is on my TBR, so hopefully we both enjoy them! Also, for whatever reason, I felt like I would not like The Devil Takes You Home, even though like you said, everyone else seems to. So I am kind of feeling like I made the right call, considering we have very similar tastes! Hope you get to all of these!

I’m so curious to read your reviews of Lute and Station Eternity. I had some issues with both of them, so they aren’t real favorites, but I did enjoy both. Thanks Shannon! I hope we both have great luck with our TBRs:-)
Looks like a lot of interesting books!

They are!
This year has just flown by. The book I’m looking forward to most is Fairy Tale. I need to read Wanderers to be ready for Wayward, and Our Wives Under the Sea and The Hacienda are another two I’m interested in reading at some point. Hope you enjoy all these books 😀

Thanks, I hope we both find time to read them:-)
It looks like you’ve done amazingly well, congrats!
I loved Lavender House! I’m really excited about Lute as well. Wayward and White Horse are also at the top of my anticipated releases lists as well! I have an ARC of The Light PIrate that I’ve been trying to wait to read, but I may not be able to, haha–we’ll see.
I have a lot to get through before I read The Light Pirate, but I can’t wait:-)
Ahh, so much goodness to look forward to the next couple of months! (also 800 pages for Wayward? YIKES! That’s going to take awhile! Or maybe not, I am always impressed at how fast you devour so many book!)
Oh I’m actually a pretty slow reader compared to some bloggers!
Now I’m really curious to read your review of Station Eternity.
Tomorrow!
Two on here by Camilla Bruce – she’s a writing fury isn’t she!
Lynn 😀
