The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: A book with a turquoise cover.
I guess I could have used this book for last week’s theme as well, lol. But here we are today, showcasing a turquoise cover. I’ve selected The Deep by Rivers Solomon, a dark mermaid story. I’m actually surprised there are so many covers! Take a look:
2019 Gallery/Saga Press hardcover edition | 2021 Spanish edition
2020 Gallery/Saga Press paperback edition | 2020 Turkish edition
2020 French edition | 2021 French edition
There are some pretty covers here, and I like several of these. But the one that keeps drawing my attention is the Spanish cover:
I love turquoise and your pick is def my favorite too!
I like the 2019 Gallery/Saga Press cover because it looks like there are dangerous creatures in the background, but it’s a dream-like cover, too.

The Spanish one is my favorite too.
Definitely my favorite as well. I love how they mixed different art genres.

Ooh I didn’t know this one had so many covers! I agree, that Spanish cover is beautiful! The Gallery/Saga Press one also has a nice colorful design.
I like that first one but the fifth one is wild!
Very beautiful! I didn’t realize there were so many covers for this!
I love the Spanish cover, and the 2020 paperback design is also catching my eye. Beautiful, intriguing covers, all!
Interesting mix to these. I really enjoy when a set of covers from different regions and publishers have very different designs.
I agree with your favorite!
What a fascinating spread of covers for this one, Tammy:). I love the Spanish one, too – though that French cover has also snagged my attention. The water up around her face changes it into something exotic and ‘other’… Thank you for sharing:)).
The one you picked is my favorite too but they are all pretty cool!
The Spanish cover is my favorite, too, but I also like the French cover
