The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Sunny and bright. A cover that is predominantly yellow.
Well, it’s been a while since I did a Friday Face-Off, but I definitely wanted to participate this week. I’ve found two yellow covers of two different fantasy books, and not only that, but they both have the word “sister” in the title. So here is a duo of “yellow sister fantasy” face-offs!
Sistersong by Lucy Holland – U.S. vs. UK
I haven’t read this book yet, but I’ve heard very good things about it. I honestly cannot choose between these two covers, guys. They are both beautiful in different ways!
Sisters of the Winter Wood by Rena Rossner – U.S. vs. Russian
Coincidentally, both of these books are published by Redhook in the U.S. I have read Sisters of the Winter Wood and really enjoyed it! Again, we have two different covers that are both lovely. I honestly cannot choose my favorite!
I think yellow books are hard to find, but you did a good job. I think I like the UK version the best because it reminds me of The Three Faces of Eve (and I loved the movie).

These are neat. I like yellow on covers.

Lovely covers. I think I would probably choose the first examples for both books. Although they’re all impressive.
Lynn 😀
I’ve not read either of these but I’m curious about both. And in both cases I do like both covers, but I’ll pick the US editions of each. For Sistersong I love how the harp and the hands and the title of reference music. And for The Sisters of the Winter Wood I like the distinctive frame created by the branches/vines with the crown up top and the house and candle in corners giving off smoke and the animals and pitchfork down below. Very cool covers this time around.
I like the cover with harp best but all are great. I haven’t read either, but they sound very interesting.
I agree with you regarding Sistersong. They’re both beautiful in their own way but I kind of lean towards the one on the right, because I love the art style!
