What’s On My Plate – February 2022

February has a mind boggling amount of new SFF releases, and it will be impossible to read everything I want to read. And it’s a short month to boot! I’m going to try my best to get to as many of these as possible, though. I’m also listing a few March releases that I plan on reading this month, so yes, it’s going to be busy. Here are the books I’m hoping to tackle:

March releases:

The Paradox Hotel by Rob Hart. Super excited for this! I’m so curious to read Hart’s follow-up to The Warehouse, and I’m seeing some good reviews already.

The Great Witch of Brittany by Louisa Morgan. I just finished this and loved it! Louisa Morgan’s writing style is hypnotic, it’s so easy to sink into her stories. Look for a review next week.

Sisters of the Forsaken Stars by Lina Rather. This is my only novella of the month, but I think it’s going to be a good one:-D

Bluebird by Ciel Pierlot. I will be on the Angry Robot blog tour for Bluebird later in the month, so look for a review then. I’m so curious to read this book, described as “Lesbian Gunslinger fights spies in space!”

Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. I’ve already seen some awesome reviews for this book, and I can’t wait to start it.

The Thousand Eyes by A.K. Larkwood. This is the sequel to The Unspoken Name, but it’s been a few years since I read it. I’m hoping the story comes back to me, because I loved the first book!

Stars and Bones by Gareth L. Powell. I became a big Powell fan after reading Light Chaser last year, so it was a no brainer to add this to my list. I’m on the blog tour at the end of the month as well.

Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt. Hopefully this will be the year I cross Heuvelt off my “authors to read” list. This sounds like it could be pretty scary!

Redwood and Wildfire by Andrea Hairston. This historical fantasy was previously published, and now Tordotcom is giving it new life. I think it sounds fantastic!

Good Neighbors by Stephanie Burgis. I’m looking forward to this cozy fantasy romance from the always delightful Stephanie Burgis:-)

Spontaneous Human Combustion by Richard Thomas. I was sent a review copy of this short story collection months ago, so I’m glad I have a good system of keeping track of review books, overwise I probably would have forgotten about this. It’s getting great reviews too!

And a few “can’t wait until March” March releases:

Sundial by Catriona Ward. I’m actually surprised that I haven’t read this yet, but never fear, it’s coming up very soon on the pile.

The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi. Scalzi’s latest takes place during Covid, but I’m still excited to read it.

Wild and Wicked Things by Francesca May. I’ve been neglecting my Orbit review books, for which I feel awful, so I’m making an attempt to read them all early this year if possible:-D

And that’s my very ambitious February plate. Are you planning to read any of these? What’s your most anticipated February book?

  1. The new Powell and the new Scalzi are high on my “wanted” list, but I’m quite curious to see what the new book about the “nuns in space” has in store for me… It’s going to be an intriguing two months… 😉

  2. I had completely forgotten Sisters of the Forsaken Stars comes out this month. Now I really have something to look forward to! 🙂

  3. The Thousand Eyes is brilliant, I hope you love it! I didn’t have any trouble getting back into it despite have a terrible memory and never having time for re-reads

  4. Oh Echo is now translated? I have the Dutch edition signed on my bookshelves for a while. I loved his Dutch Hex though. I just can’t get myself to read the changed English version
