The Friday Face-Off was created by Books by Proxy, where each week bloggers can showcase books with covers centered around a weekly theme. You can visit Lynn’s Books for a list of upcoming themes. Join in the fun each Friday by finding a book whose cover is based on the theme!
This week’s theme: Rabbits
I’m going rogue this week. The theme is actually “windswept” and for the life of me I could not find a book to use! I have a few windswept books that I’ve already used for different themes, but I couldn’t find anything new. So I decided to show some recent covers with rabbits, which seem to be a trend these days. These are all speculative fiction and were either released within the past two years, or are coming out in 2022. Take a look!
These are just the books that I’ve already got on my Goodreads shelves, so I’m sure there are more out there. As far as a favorite goes, I can’t just pick one. I absolutely love What Moves the Dead and Dead Water, but I’m pretty fond of Cursed Bunny as well!
lol Tammy stop making me look at that Kingfisher cover! You know how I feel about it. Just replace it with the Constant Rabbit or something. Otherwise, I’d vote for the David Liss one:)
The Cursed Bunny cover is fantastic, very eye-catching. It’s my favorite, too.

Some of these rabbits look truly unsettling, like the one on the Melissa Albert cover and of course the one for Cursed Bunny. I would not like to find myself face to face with them! 😀
I saw your theme and immediately thought, “oh no, how did I misread this week’s theme that badly??” I love that you chose to do rabbits–there really are a lot of them on covers lately! And they really love to make them weird, haha. I had rabbits growing up and it always makes me want one again when I see them on covers (except maybe not Kingfisher’s, lol). I really like them all! They feel so creative.

I had not noticed this trend. And to be honest, now that I’m aware of it I’m a bit disturbed by it… 🙂
I love that first one but the doorknocker one is somewhat ominous lol! That last one though…

Haha, yes, rabbits seem to be the current trend. Better than snakes I guess, we had a run where I was seeing snakes on covers everywhere and I certainly don’t miss that!
I love the Melissa Albert cover. And some of these look so creepy!
