I’ve seen this tag on both Maddalena’s blog and Lisa’s blog, and I thought October would be the perfect time to jump in and do my own post! I’m doing a slight twist and that is I’m listing two books for each prompt—a book I’ve read and loved, and a book that’s still on my TBR. Here we go!
Read: Rovers by Richard Lange. I just read this a couple of months ago and wow, I loved it. This is gritty literary horror.
Want to read: Mouth Full of Ashes by Briana Morgan. This is a self published vampire novel that the author is calling her “love letter to The Lost Boys.”
Read: Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones. Another very dark, gritty read about a family of werewolves. It’s one of my favorite SGJ books:-D
Want to read: Written in Red by Anne Bishop. I am reading the spin off series, but I really need to go back and catch up with The Others, which I know lots of my friends love.
Want to read: The Living Dead by George A. Romero & Daniel Kraus. I just couldn’t fit this in upon publication a couple of years ago, but it’s still on my list to read.
Read: Come With Me by Ronald Malfi. This book will most certainly rank in my top five books of 2021, it’s that good!
Want to read: The Haunting of Las Lagrimas by W.M. Cleese. This sounds like a spooky, historical ghost story, set in Argentina. Titan Books is really killing it lately with new releases! This comes out next February.
Read: The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow. There are so many “witch” books I could have chosen, but this one stands out because of Harrow’s feminist take on witches.
Want to read: The Great Witch of Brittany by Louisa Morgan. I adore Morgan’s books, and I’m so happy she has a new one coming out next year!
Read: You Let Me In by Camilla Bruce. I love this book to pieces! If you aren’t scared off by dark themes and characters, this is a must read book about the fae.
Want to read: The Warrior Poet by Sharon Lynn Fisher. I believe this book actually comes out today, and it’s the third book in Sharon’s The Faery Rehistory series. I will be reading it very soon!
Read: Proper’s Demon by K.J. Parker. I read this novella several years ago and loved it! An interesting story about art and demons.
Want to read: Piñata by Leopoldo Gout. This is a possession story that sounds really scary!
Read: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir. OK this might be a spoiler if you haven’t read this yet, so I’m not saying there’s aliens in this book, nope!
Want to read: A Half-Built Garden by Ruthanna Emerys. I haven’t talked about this book yet on the blog, but I’ll be featuring it again next month for Sci-Fi Month. This is a first contact novel that sounds excellent.
Read: Eye of the Sh*t Storm by Jackson Ford. Ford’s super fun series centers around a girl who can, well, move shit with her mind. If you love action-packed stories with high stakes and a found family vibe, you’ve got to read this series!
Want to read: Jade War by Fonda Lee. I’m desperately trying to find time to read this second book in Lee’s fantasy series about a family who draws strength and power from magical jade. Soooo good!
I tag anyone who wants to join in. And let me know if you do so I can visit your post:-D

A fun tag indeed, and I can see how much you enjoyed compiling the list 🙂
(also, I’ve take note of those two vampire books because I have a “thing” for that kind of critter….)

It’s such a fun tag, and I have you to thank for bringing it to my attention:-)
Glad to see Come With Me by Ronald Malfi here. I picked up the audiobook of it last week, figured it might be a good October/Halloween read/listen.
I’m curious to see what the audio book is like!
I love this list and might have to give it a try. And, I love your answers. I’ve not read Mongrels but I do have a copy so perhaps I should bump that up the old TBR.

Mongrels is a tough read, sort of depressing, but also heartwarming. I don’t know how he does that…
Ahhhh I love this tag and definitely wanna do it (if I don’t forget because that’s always possible lol)

I forget to do tags I like too, lol.
What a fun tag! Rovers really does sound good, I need to check it out. Both Come With Me and The Haunting of Las Lagrimas sound so good! I’m also very excited for The Great Witch of Brittany. 🙂 This entire tag is just giving me a list of books to read–also very curious for You let Me In, Pinata, and A Half-Built Garden (I guess I might as well just name every book in this tag).

I hope you get the chance to read some of them!
Love how you made this your own, Tammy. I really need to read a SGJ book! Maybe I’ll start with Mongrels!
He’s such a good writer:-)
Written in Red was fantastic – I hope you enjoy! Also, I agree with your choice for alien. 🙂
I might have to do this tag in the future. 🙂
You should do it, lots of fun:-)
Such a fun tag and I had to chuckle at your Project Hail Mary comment, lol.
Ha ha I hate giving spoilers but it’s the perfect book for alien!
A love letter to the Lost Boys! Ooh I love that movie…
Come With Me I need to check out…

One of my favorites movies from my teen years:-)
This looks like such a fun tag and I love how you listed a book you read along with a book on your TBR!
Thanks Hasini!
I think I could pick all the books you listed except the ones about zombies . . . *runs away* What a fun tag, Tammy! 🙂
Thanks Silvia! I know, zombies aren’t my favorite:-)
