Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
I just finished a Buffy rewatch, all seven seasons, and wow was that fun! I’m sort of sad it’s over, but now I’m gonna start Angel😀
Upcoming reviews:
Well, I have to say it’s been a very heavy, depressing week for reading. I’m seriously in need of something lighter, lol. Also, my reading plans were completely upended when I got a surprise email on Monday reminding me that I was on a blog tour for The Offset and my stop was this coming Wednesday! (And I’m grateful for that email, otherwise I would have been soo embarrassed had I missed it) I had completely forgotten to write it down in my calendar, so I had to ditch My Heart is a Chainsaw and focus on the book for the tour. I enjoyed it to a point, but it’s very depressing and dark, much more than I was expecting. I’m about halfway through The Strange Thing We Become, a collection of short horror stories by a writer who’s really making a splash in the indie horror community. The stories are beautifully written, but I’m finding it hard to make it through some of them, they are so disturbing! My review will be up on Monday if you’re curious. I’m hoping to dive back into Chainsaw today, which was just getting good, and I may or may not get a review up later this week. We’ll see.
Upcoming reads:
I’m still trying to finish up some August books, so those will be interspersed with some September releases. For a change of pace, I might grab Mastermind next, I’m really excited to read it! And I absolutely must get to Revelator and Light Chaser, so I’ll see what I’m in the mood for and then decide.
Other posts this week:
On Tuesday, I’ll post my September reading plans, so stop back for What’s on My Plate! Wednesday I’m doubling up with a blog tour stop for The Offset, as well as a Future Fiction post. And the Friday Face-Off is Detective Noir, so that should be fun.
In case you missed:
Here are my posts from last week, just in case you’re tempted:

I want to read LaRocca’s collection. I’m looking forward to your review. Beautiful photo of a beautiful hawk!

It was so good, you’ll probably love it!
I started reading the Jessica Blackwood series in anticipation of Mastermind. I really enjoyed Angel Killer. Different from the Theo Cray stories in many ways, but also similar enough that I get right into them. The simple enjoyment of a short thrill ride.
Oh cool. I have a copy of Angel Killer and wanted to read it first, but I’m just going to dive into Mastermind first.
I have accidently missed a tour before, it’s horrible so I understand your feelings on that. Glad they sent an email as not every tour place does that! I am excited for Mastermind too! Hope you enjoy it!
Have a great week and happy reading!
Stormi
You too, thanks Stormi!
The hawk is amazing! I am so impressed that Moses can get such good photos of wildlife. I try but most of mine come out as a blur. Have a great week.
x The Captain
Thank you! He is so patient. He’ll just stand forever and wait for the right shot. You too Captain!
I just started My Heart Is a Chainsaw. It’s taking me a while to get into it though because of the slow start.
I’ve heard the first half is slow because he’s setting things up for the second half. I trust him, he hasn’t let me down yet!
I’ve watched all of Buffy but never got to Angel. I keep changing up my genre. I couldn’t read all the horror and dark fantasy you do, it would be depressing.

Yeah, I’ve been reading a lot of horror lately, so I’ll be taking a break.
OK if you haven’t read it yet go for The House in the Cerulean Sea you’ll have your mood lifted.
I definitely want to try it!
Oh, yay for a Buffy rewatch! It’s been a few years since I’ve done one — I think I’m due! I don’t know if I could sit through all of Angel again. There’s a lot to love… but also a lot not to. Enjoy!! Sorry to hear that My Heart is a Chainsaw was so depressing. I should be reading it this week, but I may hold off. Much more in the mood for upbeat reads at this point!
Ha ha, Angel isn’t that great the first season, but some of the later seasons are pretty good:-)
Buffy is one of those shows I still need to watch. I’ve been saying I want to for years and still haven’t. Sorry to hear your reads have been so heavy. I hope you’re able to something lighter to read this week.
Buffy still holds up after so many years, I’m happy to say:-)
I’m super excited to read mastermind, but you’ll probably beat me to it! I might tackle Revelator next, I am feeling in the mood for something dark and different 🙂
I’m so curious to see what you think of it!
I’m taking my rewatch very slowly. Paused after season 1 to read the books set in season 1, but now I’m not in the mood to read them. They’re very quick easy reads, though.
I feel you on needing something lighter! I hesitate to accept that epic/high fantasy is much better but it must be at least to some extent. I’ve enjoyed reading horror and dark fiction but gosh, sometimes. Light Chaser might help break up those dark reads a bit. Scifi and fantasy isn’t always *light* but at least it aims to be more heroic and hopeful a lot of the time. S’all fun though, looking forward to your thoughts on The Strange Thing We Become.

I have Light Chaser so that might be a good one to read next!
Looking forward to your review of My Heart is a Chainsaw! The Strange Thing We Become sounds really interesting. I am captivated by that cover for Revelator! I still haven’t read anything from Daryl Gregory, I might have to change that soon. I think I need to catch up on a few of your posts from last week that I’ve apparently missed, I didn’t have a chance to do much blog visiting (thanks, work. 🙁 ) I hope you have a great week, Tammy!
Oh you should try Daryl Gregory! I think one of my favorites is still Spoonbenders:-)
My Heart is a Chainsaw is a book I definitely need to pick up – soon.
