Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!
It’s an eclectic book haul this week! But I’m looking forward to all of these, take a look:
Physical books for review:
Super excited to have You Sexy Thing by Cat Rambo in my hands! Big thanks to Wunderkind PR for offering a review copy. I’m also excited because this is a November release, and you all remember that November is Sci Fi Month, right? 😉
And with thanks to the wonderful team at Tor Nightfire, I received an ARC of Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes, one of my most highly anticipated 2022 books! This might be the first ARC of 2022 I’ve received, and I’m thrilled to have it!
From the lovely team at Orbit, I received a copy of The Body Scout by Lincoln Michel. This is a September release and I’ll be reading it in the next few weeks. It sounds so good!
Big thanks to Tor Teen for a finished copy of Forestborn by Elayne Audrey Becker. This is a late August release and I won’t have time to read it this month, sadly. I’ll definitely try for September though, it sounds magical!
Spontaneous Human Combustion by Richard Thomas came to me unsolicited, but I’m actually going to try and schedule this in (it doesn’t release until next February, so I feel pretty good about that!). Thanks to Keylight Books for sending this my way. It’s a short story collection described as “pushing the boundaries of dark fiction.”
Another unusual addition to the TBR: The Workshop of Filthy Creation by Richard Gadz was sent to me from the UK by Deixis Press. This is a gorgeous finished hardcover and I’m grateful to have this! It sounds amazing. Click on the link and read the blurb. It’s a Frankenstein-centric story, and I’ll definitely be reading this in October.
Huge thanks to the Hachette Book Group folks for sending me this lovely finished copy of Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton. I’ve already reviewed this and I loved it! Fun fact: I’ve also purchased a signed copy, because I joined a release event last week and I really wanted the signed poster that was created for the event!
I’m not sure how I ended up with a copy of Fan Fiction by Brent Spiner, but I may have entered a giveaway? In any case, I’m pretty curious about this title. It seems to be a tongue-in-cheek look at TV fandom, a meta autobiographical story about an actor named Brent Spiner and his relationship with his fans during the Star Trek: The Next Generation boom. I’m a huge fan of the show, so that’s the only reason I’m interested in this. Should be fun! Thank you St. Martin’s Press:-)
Digital books for review:
Just two new NetGalley titles this time, and both were Future Fiction picks, so you know I’m excited about them!
First up, Goliath by Tochi Onyebuchi, a novel from Tor.com. I loved Onyebuchi’s Riot Baby, so I’m quite excited for this book.
And I was happy to be approved for Cassandra Rose Clarke’s next book, The Beholden. This cover is magical, and I’m hoping the story will be too:-)
Thank you to Tor.com and Erewhon Books!
The Body Scout looks very intriguing indeed, I will have to keep it on my radar… And I was not aware of the Brent Spiner book, but it seems to be a fun read, so I’m looking forward to your comments!
I’m planning on reading the Body Scout soon, it’s really calling to me:-)
“Pushing the Boundaries of Dark Fiction”? Ooo, Spontaneous Human Combustion sounds intriguing. I’m going to check it out.

I’m intrigued too:-)
Sounds like you’ve got such a great collection of ARCs, Tammy! Other than 2 books that have been on my radar, the rest are completely new to me, but I spy Tochi Onyebuchi and Cassandra Rose Clarke, so that’s exciting! Happy reading!

Thanks Hasini! I’m excited for both of those:-)
Looks like you’ve got a lot of great reading coming up!
More than I can fit in, probably:-)
Enjoy all your new reads!
Thanks Stormi:-)
At this point the only one of these that’s a definite read for me is Feral Creatures, but I’m absolutely open to being convinced I need to read more of them. 🙂 Dead Silence had me confused I might already be reading it, but then I realized it’s Dead Space I’m reading (well, listening to, anyway).
I know, those titles are a little confusing. Dead Space was so good!
I really love seeing the mix of fiction you end up with. It speaks to my eclectic mood-reading heart.

Ha ha this week is particularly eclectic!
Dead Silence is one I’ve been looking at too. I think I’m going to get it. 🙂
I hope it’s as amazing as I think:-)
I just finished Feral Creatures and it was soooo good! I loved it…thank goodness, I was long overdue for another 5 star book 🙂

I’m glad you loved it!
I’m jealous that you got a copy of Fan Fiction!
I hope it’s good! I love Brent Spiner, hopefully he can write:-)
Another fantastic book haul! I’m curious about the Brett Spiner book too.
It does sound like fun, at least it’s different from everything else I have:-)
I just received a copy of The Body Scout as well, it really does sound good! Forestborn has been on my radar for what seems like ages, it sounds amazing. That cover of The Beholden is absolutely gorgeous and succeeds in making me need to read it!

I know, Beholden is definitely a “cover grab” for me, although I love the author too:-)
Oh Sounds like some fun sci-fi novels in there!

Yes, there are some good ones:-)
I’ve been looking at the Body Scout. I do fancy that one but at the same time I’m already so behind so think I need to have my sensible head on for a change.
