Welcome to Over-Booked, where I share my latest and greatest book acquisitions! There is a new blog hosting Stacking the Shelves, so do check out Reading Reality for more information!
I’m really excited about today’s book haul! Lots of good books coming up, take a look:
Physical books for review:
I was thrilled when a publicist offered me a copy of Feral Creatures by Kira Jane Buxton, which you might know I am ridiculously excited to read. Big thanks to Grand Central Publishing:-D
And my copy of Summer Sons by Lee Mandelo showed up last week, and I’m so happy to have this! I may try to read this early for Horror in July if I have time. Thank you Tor.com!
City of Iron and Dust by J.P. Oakes is a July release, and I believe it’s already out. I’ll need to start this soon. I’m looking forward to it, it’s a story about the fae and it’s been a while since I’ve read one of those. Huge thanks to Titan Books for the review copy!
Notes From the Burning Age by Claire North is also a July release. The last Claire North book I tried to read ended up a DNF, so I’m taking a chance on this. It sounds really good, though. Thank you to Orbit!
Tor.com was kind enough to send me a lovely finished hardback of A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers. I’ve already read this and loved it! It was such a sweet, feel good story. My review will be up on Monday.
Digital books for review:
In the digital haul, I was excited to see Dead Silence by S.A. Barnes pop up for review. This is a 2022 release but I couldn’t resist grabbing it!
The Second Shooter by Nick Mamatas sort of came out of nowhere. I’m a fan of the author but this slipped right by me! Looks like fun.
Floaters by Garrett Boatman looks like a fun Victorian era zombie novella. It’s not up on Goodreads yet, so I linked the Amazon page.
I’ve taken on a few indie horror titles, and my latest is Human Tenderloin by Craig Wallwork. I was impressed with some of the heavy hitters who blurbed this short story collection, and I’m looking forward to it.
I also agreed to read Always Beside You by Damir Salkovic. I really want to know more about the creepy girl on the cover!
Finally, I was excited to get a copy of Tidepool by Nicole Willson, a book I’ve already mentioned here on the blog. Nicole offered bloggers a “read now” NetGalley download if you follow her on Instagram, so I definitely took advantage of that!
Big thanks to Tor Nightfire, Solaris, Crystal Lake Publishing, Craig Wallwork, Damir Salkovic, Nicole Willson and Parliament House:-D
Summer Sons sounds good. I have Floaters, too; it looks like a quick, exciting read! Happy reading!

Thanks Priscilla. I hope we both enjoy Floaters:-)
I’m really curious to try A Psalm for the Wild Built. I recently started The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, my first Chambers book. She really has some interesting titles.
I’m going to go back and read her Wayfarer series at some point, I really enjoy her writing and storytelling:-)
I saw the cover for Dead Silence somewhere in the past two days, and now that you’ve mentioned and linked to the synopsis I know why my “book vibes” were clamoring for my attention… 😀 😀

Oh good, I’m looking forward to it:-)
Lots of these look really cool! Enjoy!!
Thanks Stormi:-)
Really enjoyed Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton — so I’m looking forward to reading anything by her. These are all new to me, but I hope you’ll enjoy!
Yay, another Hollow Kingdom fan:-)
Looking forward to Chambers’ novella myself! Happy reading! 😀

Cool, I’ll have to check their reviews out. Thanks Anne!
There’s a few things jumping out at me here, can’t blame you for grabbing Dead Silence early. There’s something extra horrifying about scifi-horror! 😀

I think it sounds amazing!
Okay I am insanely jealous that Tor loves you enough to send you finished copies But happy for you! It is a great book that I definitely plan to add to my shelves! I looked for Dead Silence on NG like, literal days ago and didn’t see it, so I have to go look again hah. (Just looked and YEP- I must have just missed it- cross your fingers for me heh.) Super curious about Notes From the Burning Age myself, so I will definitely be looking out for your thoughts! Hope you enjoy these!

I hope you love it!
Looks like a pretty amazing book haul! I’m so envious that you got Feral Creatures.
I’m actually very surprised I got Feral Creatures. It’s one of those ARCs that I tried every possible way to get one and they all failed, and then this just dropped into my lap. Go figure!
Ooo… A Psalm for the Wild Built! I love, love LOVE her writing – and I haven’t yet managed to get hold of a copy of this one, yet. As ever, a really cool collection of books, Tammy:). I’ll be keeping an eye out for Dead Silence – thank you for sharing.
I can’t wait to read more Becky Chambers:-)
I actually requested Dead Silence earlier today and hope I can get myself an eARC — I can’t get enough of that particular sci-fi/horror mashup.
