Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
Let’s just say it’s been a week and move on, shall we? I’m sort of exhausted from all the news and events at the Capitol and my brain can only take so much.
Anyway, hope everyone is well! So 2021, right? Who’s ready for 2022? Ha ha. Not much happening in my life, other than reading a lot and trying to keep up with new releases. I’ll post a new hubby photo at the end of this post, it’s a good one!
Upcoming reviews:
I swear I didn’t plan on reading nothing but green books last week, but as you can see, that’s just what I did. Look for three reviews this week, including the fabulous Doors of Sleep by Tim Pratt (I had so much fun with this book!), Remote Control by Nnedi Okorafor (just finished this and it was strange yet wonderful) and Across the Green Grass Fields by Seanan McGuire (not my favorite but I know a lot of readers will love this one).
Upcoming reads:
I have some chunky books to get through this month, and here are a few of them. I will probably be reading Hall of Smoke by the time you read this post, and next I’m going to choose between The Mask of Mirrors and The Forever Sea. I’m equally excited about all of these but I have to choose, so let’s see how my mood goes this week.
The usual memes…
The Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Reading & Blogging Goals so I will probably come up with a few, we’ll see. On Wednesday I have some very cool books to share in Future Fiction, and the Friday Face-Off is “Spaceships and Explosions.”
In case you missed…
Here are last week’s posts, in case you missed any:
The Friday Face-Off: “Moon” in the title
The Effort by Claire Holroyde – Review 4/5 stars
Most Anticipated Books of 2021 – First Quarter
In the Garden of Spite by Camilla Bruce – Review 4.5/5 stars
Oh yes, Doors of Sleep was such a blast! Looking forward to your review.
Thanks Ollie:-)
I can’t wait to see what you think of The Forever Sea.
Me too! I feel like I’ve been waiting forever.
I loved Doors of Sleep, too. Such a range of inventive worlds – and it had a delightful old school feel about it, too:)). I look forward to reading your review. And that pic of your hubby’s took my breath away… Thank you for sharing! I hope the coming week continues to be peaceful and healthy.
Thank you Sarah! I’m looking forward to comparing notes on Doors of Sleep:-)
Looks like you have done some good reading! That pic of your husbands is so cool!
Thanks Stormi!
Love the unintended green theme! It’s always great when interesting patterns like that just magically surface. And Moses’ photo, wow! Great action moment. I love the eyes, so very piercing. They look like a male and female grackle, at least that’s what I’d think out here, not sure if the species might be different out there.
I will have to ask him, he’s become pretty good at identifying birds:-)
Yep, interested in seeing your “Doors of Sleep” post!!
It will be up tomorrow:-)
I was so scared for you all Tammy! And…what a way to begin 2021…Now let’s see the positive in your post today and I shall say that that picture looks like the bird is saluting the other LOL Gorgeous picture by the way! Your husband I guess? Stay safe!
Yes, my husband took that photo, I have no talent at all, lol. And it’s a cool photo, right?
Remote Control has such a great cover, and I need to read it! Can’t wait to see what you think of The Forever Sea. I’m thinking of doing a weekly. post today, but can’t decide for sure. My first goal for today is to just get all the commenting I want done!

Hey, that’s a good goal:-)
Yes I think it was quite a week. It looks like your upcoming reads are the blue with hints of gold covers. lol. I enjoy goals which are really a component of organizing so I look forward to seeing them.

Ha ha I hadn’t realized I color coded my upcoming reads:-)
Mask of Mirrors is going to be my next read after Pawn’s Gambit!

Cool, I hope we both love it:-)
Doors of Sleep has been getting some good reviews, I can’t wait to start it! I’m also reading Masks of Mirrors right now and it’s good but not blowing me away – and it’s clunky! IF you’re in the mood for a lighter read, I’d probably go with the others first.
Ugh clunky… Yeah I may choose the Forever Sea first;-)
I’m ready for 2022! Urgh it’s just like living in a dystopian novel.
Hope you are safe and well!
I know, I feel the same!
Yeah, I’m excited for 2022 myself. It feels like the first week of the year has been a year already LOL. Have a great week, Tammy! Hope you enjoy The Mask of Mirrors–I just started it and I’m loving the world so far.
Good to hear!
I love the cover of The Forever Sea. This year has certainly gotten off to an interesting start. Not all of it good. I’m not ready to write it off just yet though. Not that I’m overly optimistic though. I hope you have a good week, Tammy!
I feel the same, I don’t want to be pessimistic, but it’s hard at the moment…
Man, I hear you. I feel like my head is about to explode with all that has happened in the past few days. Escaping into books is the only way to go at this point, lol. I just started reading In the Garden of Spite yesterday and it has definitely been an interesting distraction from everything else going on. Love that photo your hubby took. Gorgeous!
Looking forward to your review of In the Garden of Spite!
Oh snap, it sounds like Across the Green Grass Fields wasn’t as perfect as a fan of the author would wish it to be! Hope your upcoming reads prove to be awesome though! 😀

So many people are giving Across the Green Grass Fields 5 stars, so I don’t feel that bad with my rating.
Looking forward to your Across the Green Grass Fields review! I am also very curious to hear your thoughts on The Mask of Mirrors and The Forever Sea, I am still so excited to read the latter. I hope you have a great week!
Thanks Jordan! You too:-)
I love that picture and it’s absolutely ripe for a caption – I’m going with ‘speak to the wing cos the face ain’t listening’.
