Welcome to my kick-off post for Sci-Fi Month 2020, my favorite blogging month of the year! Are you sick of 2020? Would you like to leave Earth for a while and enjoy a change of scenery? Or maybe simply jump into a future where COVID has been eradicated? Oh wait, there might be something worse than COVID in the future…Oh well, never mind. I’m sure we’ll have fun no matter what we encounter! Huge shout out to this year’s hosts of Sci Fi Month, imyril from onemore.org and Lisa from Dear Geek Place, who will keep our course steady. Clicking on those links will take you to the information pages for the event so you can join in as well.
I have big plans for the month, and in fact I’ve been planning for over a month, believe it or not. Not only do I have a huge stack of science fiction books I’d love to read, but I’ve got lots of lists, at least one “cover love” post, a giveaway, and an exciting new feature as well. Here’s what you can look forward to this month:
All the SF books I want to read:
I’m not going to link all these up, but as you can see, I have quite a nice selection of science fiction books I’d love to get to. All of these are for review, except for Ready Player Two, which I’ll need to buy a copy of. Also, can we admire how BLUE these covers are? I swear I didn’t plan it that way. Red Noise is sticking out like a sore thumb, lol. Obviously I won’t be able to read all these, but let me know which one I should start with! (And tomorrow I will post What’s On My Plate for November, because I do have a fair amount of non-SF books to read this month as well.)
Lists, lists, lists:
Because I love them! Here are the lists I have planned:
- Twelve SF Books to Read in 2021 – Adult
- Twelve SF Books to Read in 2021 – YA
- Best SF of 2020 So Far – The “5 Star Books in 5 Words” Edition
- Book Cover Love: **To Be Announced!
Self Published Sci-Fi Saturday:
I’m very happy to announce that I will be showcasing some awesome self published science fiction authors every Saturday this month. I put out the call on Twitter to see if there was any interest, and I got a fantastic response! Every Saturday I will feature five different self-published authors and their books, including book cover images, story blurbs, buy links, and author bio and social media links. Stop by each Saturday to check out these hard working authors!
Future Fiction & The Friday Face-Off:
Every Wednesday on Future Fiction I’ll be highlighting four new and upcoming science fiction books! (yes, it’s a super-sized Future Fiction this month!) These are all coming out in 2021, so you won’t want to miss adding these to your TBR. And the Friday Face-Off will be gearing towards science fiction as well. If you’d like to participate, here are the themes each week: 11/6 – Plants; 11/13 – Bright; 11/20 – Words only; 11/27 – Modern SF.
Giveaway:
Every year at the end of the month, I host an international giveaway. Winners will get to pick ANY science fiction book I talked about in November., including pre-orders. All you have to do is show up on November 30th and enter!
Oh wow, this all sounds great! Looking forward to all of it!
Thanks Ollie:-)
You planned a very, very BUSY November indeed! Let’s start with the fun!
See you aboard 😉

See you there!
It’s going to be a great month! This is going to be so much fun!
I’m glad you’ll be participating too:-)
This sounds exciting, Tammy. Looking forward to your reviews of these books as well as getting to know the self-published books.

Thanks, I always look forward to this event:-)
Sounds like you’ll have a lot of fun and potentially read a lot of great books! I’m doing Nonfiction November next month my excuse to read nonfiction for the whole month. 😀

That sounds like fun too!
Wow, lots to look forward to! I love the cover for Architects of Memory so I’m hoping you’ll make it to that one (but no worries if not). And I’m very curiuos to hear what you think of Ready Player Two, one I’m cautiously looking forward to, but still very skeptical of (I loved the first one).
I know lots of people who are skeptical about Ready Player Two, it’s tough when so many readers loved the first one:-)
I enjoy Sci-Fi particularly on audio. Happy reading!
Thanks Kimberly:-)
The Rush’s Edge and Unconquerable Sun are also on my TBR, I’m so excited to read them! 😀

Oh cool, let’s hope we enjoy them!
So little time indeed! I put together a backlist of sci-fi books I needed to catch up with, and completely forgot to factor in the new releases like Nophek Gloss! Plus I also just now remembered to add Red Noise to my list 😀
A few books fell in the right month, like Nophek Gloss, but I would like to catch up with some older review books too:-)
I haven’t read any of them, but I have the first Eason’s book on my neverending TBR! And I hope you would love the ones you love!
The one you read… I hope you’d love the ones you read… Sorry!
I wish more bloggers would read the Rory Thorne books. I want some more opinions, ha ha.
Enjoy your sci-fi! 🙂
Thanks Stormi!
Have fun. I’m sort of around but not as much as normal for sci-fi month. I also have Doors of Eden but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get to it this month. But it sounds so interesting

Hopefully we can both get to Doors of Eden. I have heard amazing things about it.
Excellent picks for this month! Machine and The Doors of Eden were fantastic and I can only imagine that you’ll also love them! I need to get myself a copy of Ready Player Two as well but I fear it might not live up to my love of the first one? To be seen! Enjoy Sci-Fi month, Tammy! 😀

Yep, Ready Player Two could go either way, right?
Woohoo, Sci-Fi Month! I’ve read shockingly few in the genre this year, time to make up some lost ground! I’ll be reading Nophek Gloss and Record of a Spaceborn Few, hoping to squeeze in at least one more SF read. Enjoy your pile!

I’ve heard good things about Nophek Gloss, hopefully we’ll agree:-)
I completely forgot about Ready Player Two! I’ll definitely have to get a copy for myself 😀
I LOVED The Doors of Eden and Ancestral Night so far is my favourite read of the year – so I’m very keenly anticipating Machine, which I want to listen to. But I also have a bunch of sci fi reads all lined up:)). I’m so excited about the coming month!
You’ve made such amazing plans for the event this year. Can’t wait to see all your posts and I wonder which books you’ll get to first.
Lynn 😀
All the best on all that reading!! One of these years I’ll participate in sci-fi month too.
This looks like a fantastic TBR for SciFi Month! Hope you’re enjoying it. 🙂
