Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D
The weather is finally getting cooler here, and I’m loving it. My standard “uniform” is jeans, a hoodie, and flip flops, and it’s been too hot for the hoodie part of my outfit for months. There may even be rain in our forecast! Hope everyone has a safe Halloween next weekend! And don’t forget to turn back your clocks (U.S. folks) on Saturday night.
Last week the hubby caught some perfect morning sunshine and shot these amazing photos of geese and an egret at the lake:
Upcoming reviews:
I should have my review for Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse up tomorrow. Roanhorse has created a rich, fascinating Pre-Columbia America world full of interesting magic. I just loved this book!
I’m writing up this post on Saturday, so I’m not sure what book I’ll start next, but it’s either going to be Mongrels by Stephen Graham Jones or The Remaking by Clay McLeod Chapman. Both are fairly short and I’m sure I’ll be able to squeeze in a review on Thursday.
Upcoming reads:
I’m trying to finish up some October review books at the last minute, although October is basically over so these reviews will show up in November, oops. Voodoo Heart by John Everson is a murder mystery that takes place in New Orleans and deals with voodoo. Sounds like fun! And I can’t wait to dig into How the Multiverse Got Its Revenge by K. Eason. It’s the sequel to How Rory Thorne Destroyed the Multiverse, which I LOVED.
The usual memes and more…
Top Ten Tuesday is a Halloween Freebie, and I’ve decided to update a list from last year, Ten Witchy Books to Read for Halloween – Part Two. Wednesday is three new cover reveals on Future Fiction, and the Friday Face-Off is Forest/Jungle. And don’t miss my Sci-Fi Month kickoff on Saturday! I’m announcing the books I’d like to read next month, as well as my other plans to celebrate all things science fiction.
In case you missed…
Here are my posts from last week if you missed any:
Over-Booked [128] – A Book Haul Post
The Friday Face-Off: Ripped/Torn
The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher – Review – 4/5 stars
Read an Excerpt: The Ghost Dance Judgement by R.S. Belcher
Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark – Review – 5/5 stars
I am looking forward to your plans for sci-fi month!! I am currently working on my TBR because I kept too many books waiting for November and now I have to choose! I hate choosing!
Your husband’s pictures are wow!!
I have to choose too! So sad, once again there are way too many books coming out in November…
I can’t wait to read How the Multiverse Got Its Revenge and I’m looking forward to your review of
Black Sun, Tammy.
I hope we both love Multiverse:-)
That early morning mist hovering over the water is always a nice addition when photographing birds. More beautiful work! Curious to see what Sci-Fi Month will bring.
Thanks Todd! I always get excited for SciFi Month, it’s like a shot of adrenaline for me:-)
Man! Those pics almost look like paintings! He is getting really good! I hope you read The Remaking as I am curious to see what you think. I like that cover more than the one it originally had…lol. Curious about Voodoo Hearts too!
Have a great week and happy reading!

Week in Review
I think they look like paintings too, and he doesn’t do anything to them except adjust lighting levels, I think.
I love your husband’s pictures this week! I read something the other day that made me curious about Ring Shot but I think your 5 star review has convinced me to actually try it. 🙂

Ooh it was really good, I recommend it! And it’s short so bonus:-)
Those pictures your husband has taken are simply sublime… thank you for sharing! And yes… I’m very excited about Sci Fi Month, too – but I’m not organised enough to be able to give sneak peeks:)). Glad you enjoyed Black Sun so much – I have it now on my wishlist… thank you for your recommendation. Have a great week, Tammy.
Thank you Sarah!
Stunning photos!
I still have so many October review books left!
Wishing you a great reading week

Yep, I had way too many October books to begin with and I knew I would never finish them…
Your husband’s photography blows me away! He has quite the eye. He should sell these
Thanks Laurie! He is starting to sell them, actually. A little side business:-)
I’m looking forward to your review for Black Sun: it’s one of my most anticipated books and I hope to be able to add it to my TBR soon – ‘hope’ being the operative word… 😉

I think you’ll enjoy Black Sun! I was pleasantly surprised. Well, not even surprised. Because I loved the author before I read this:-)
Yay for the sweater but not sure the flip flop will be enough Tammy! And these shots are just stunning! Have a great week.
Ha ha I hate shoes and I avoid them as long as possible, lol. Hope you have a great week too!
You and Trevor Noah and he has a great color diversity in his hoodies. Great photos as always. I look forward to Scifi month. I love it but don’t read enough of it.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Thanks Anne:-)
Have a great week! Looking forward to your Black Sun review — I’ve been holding off on starting it, so I’m eager to hear what you thought.
Thanks Lisa! I loved it:-)
We had a little cold spell here today with a high of 49 degrees. I love getting out my sweaters and hoodies but that was a little too chilly for me, especially considering we were in the mid 70s the day before. Oh wow, those might be my favorite pics from your hubby yet. The lighting is beautiful!
The weather here was a little too cold for me too!
Ooh yes, Sci-fi Month is around the corner, I’m excited! I usually use the month to catch up with sci-fi books I missed over the year, though this year it doesn’t feel like I have as many.
I have a big pile of new and past-due review books, so we’ll see what I’m actually able to read, ha ha.
What an amazing picture, just beautiful!
I was going to do SciFi month but I’ve decided against it, my heart isn’t is the preparation, I used to have great fun with my posts but I’ll leave it to 2021, I look forward to seeing your posts.
Our clocks went back too in the UK, we woke up on Sunday with no idea what time it was!

Hey I get it. It’s not worth forcing yourself to do something if you don’t want to.
It’s been cooler and rainy here for the last few days. I love this weather but I have to watch myself because I’ve found that it has also lent itself to some “down” feelings as well. I can’t wait for your thoughts on The Remaking. It’s one of my faves.
I’m so glad you loved The Remaking! I’m probably going to read it next.
Your husband is so talented!
Thanks Jen!
The photos are wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Lynn 😀
Sounds like a great uniform haha. 🙂
I LOVE the photos!
