Buffy’s Corner – Looking at the Week Ahead 7/12/20

Welcome to Buffy’s Corner, where I take a look at what’s coming up this week on the blog! I’m linking up with The Sunday Post over at Kimberly’s blog, The Caffeinated Reviewer:-D

It’s Sunday already? I swear this week has flown by. Not much news to report this week, other than the fact that my 9 year blogging anniversary was on Friday! I’m sort of shocked by that number, and now I’m thinking I need to plan an extra special 10-year blogging celebration for next summer. Not sure what that means, but I have a year to figure it out! Hope everyone is safe and wearing your masks!

And here are a couple of new “Hubby” photos (click to see larger image). I love this little yellow bird (finch? Maybe Todd can tell me what kind of bird this is!) and this cool looking fly. I don’t actually think flies are cool, but look at this guy!

Upcoming reviews:

Stormblood took me longer to read than I expected—to be fair, it’s almost 550 pages long—plus I didn’t read that much this week. But I finally have my review ready, and it will be up tomorrow, so check back! I really enjoyed this space opera/military SF/cyberpunk mystery with tons of action and heart as well. I also gobbled up The Midnight Lullaby by Cheryl Low, so look for that review this week too!

Upcoming reads:

I’m feeling overwhelmed with this month’s review pile, so I’ve decided to just let go and use my mood as a guide for my next book. I usually try to read books based on their release dates, but I just have too many and I feel like a deer in headlights lately, unable to make any good reading decisions, lol. So having said all that, these are the next books I’d like to read, but as to what order I’ll read them in, well, I’ll let you know when I decide!

The usual memes…

On Wednesday, I have three exciting picks for Future Fiction, don’t miss it! The Friday Face-Off is “holding an object” this week, and I already have a book selected. Saturday I’ll bring you my latest book haul, so stop by my Over-Booked post and see my latest book acquisitions!

Watching:

Me and the entire world are watching Hamilton on Disney+, am I right? Here’s the video of one of my favorite songs in the show, The Schuyler Sisters. Seriously, if you need an escape from reality, Hamilton is the perfect show to watch:-D

In case you missed:

Here are my posts from last week:

Fingers crossed I make it to 10, lol. I mean I certainly can’t stop now! (not that I was planning on it)

  1. I think you’re on the right track with the yellow bird, it looks to have the beak of a finch. My guess would be a male black-backed Lesser Goldfinch. The maps indicate it can be found all year throughout most of California and a smattering of other southwestern states. And capturing a fly in flight is great! 🙂 Looking forward to reading about Stormblood. And congratulations on 9 years! 🙂

  2. I am seriously impressed with your Blogging anniversary! I’m definitely looking forward to your tenth!!!

I always have to let my mood guide me to my next book as I worry that if one catches me when I want to read something else it has a bit of a negative impact!

I love Hubby’s pics! What a beautiful little bird we don’t get those over here but he is certainly stunning!

  3. I love these posts of yours! I look forward to them every Sunday morning. Congrats on your blogiversary! I can’t imagine holding down a blog and still churning out content consistently for that many years.

Thanks Heather! Believe me, it hasn’t always been easy. Blogging has its ups and downs like everything:-)

  4. Happy Blogoversary! I’m feeling the same way about my reading choices and have way too many July review books still unread. I did just start The Year of the Witching last night and it’s pretty good so far. And yay on Hamilton. It’s my favorite so I’m thrilled to see how many people are loving the filmed version. They did such a great job capturing the magic of the live show while still managing to make it a new experience for me with all of the close up shots of the characters.

Thank you!I’ve never seen Hamilton live, so watching the recorded version is pretty exciting:-)

  5. Congrats on your 9 years blog! I have to do some of that picking what I want to read since I’m so moody. Luckily I read pretty fast. Because I want to read it all. We are considering getting Disney now that my daughter’s classes have ended and she has 4 weeks off.

Have a wonderful week and stay well!

  6. Happy anniversary!! And nice pics. 🙂

Stormblood looks awesome and I like the sound of the cyberpunk element. I’;m gonna check that out. And I’ve been meaning to get to Infernal by Cherly Low- I think I saw it here- so nice to see another!

Hope you have a great week!

Wohoo, happy belated 9 -years of blogging! I feel much the same about reading right now — I’m just all over the place, and I can’t seem to make a decision about anything to read LOL!

I’ve decided to just go with the flow. Trying to hit certain dates for reviews, but hey if it doesn’t happen, oh well!

  8. Will

Never seen Hamilton. Don’t have Disney+ either. So… yeah. Happy 9th Blogiversity! That means if you’re anything like me you’ll have 51 weeks to forget about the 10th, and one or two days to hurriedly plan something

  9. Oh wow, congrats on 9 years, that’s a heck of an achievement–it’s so easy to get burned out blogging. I have respect for those of you that have been in this for the long haul. 🙂

    • Tammy

I’ve been burned out several times over the years. It’s become a habit now, I guess:-)
