I’ve seen some good fantasy tags floating around and although I don’t do book tags that often, some of these look fun! So I’m jumping in today with the Quick Fire Fantasy Book Tag which I saw on both Zee Zee With Books and Lisa at Way Too Fantasy’s blogs. This tag was originally created by The Bookworm Dreamer. Let’s get started!
5 Star Book:
This is one of my most recent five-star reads, and I’m glad I have another chance to shout about it. You Let Me In by Camilla Bruce was dark and magical and completely unique. You can read my review here. (UK vs. US covers shown above)
Always going to Recommend:
This sparkling fantasy series is SO underrated, and I wish more readers would take a chance on it. The Girl with Ghost Eyes and The Girl with no Face by M.H. Boroson are two of my favorite books ever. If you love stories that revolve around Chinese mythology, humor and exciting action, you don’t want to miss this series.
Own it but haven’t read it yet:
I had some vague idea that I might be able to read Jade City and Jade War by Fonda Lee this month for Wyrd & Wonder, but jeez the month is almost half over! In any case, they are near the top of my “catch up” list.
Would read again:
I loved Middlegame by Seanan McGuire so much! It’s complex and jumps around in time and has some amazing characters. It’s one of those books that I feel like I’d get more out of with multiple readings. One of these days!
In Another World:
Epic fantasy set in fictional worlds isn’t anything unusual, but I personally can’t seem to get enough of the Heartwyld and the characters I’ve grown to love in Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose, the first two books in Nicholas Eames’ The Band series. I know there are a zillion books that I could have mentioned for this prompt, but honestly, these were the first to come to mind.
Back on Earth:
Rod Belcher’s Brotherhood of the Wheel series takes place on the highways that crisscross the United States, which places it firmly in the “Back on Earth” category. Obviously, I can’t talk about fantasy without mentioning Rod Belcher, so here we are! This urban fantasy series is well written and actually pretty terrifying in spots. Right now there are two books in the series, The Brotherhood of the Wheel and King of the Road, but I’m pretty sure he’s working on a third book.
You Let Me In is one I really want to read! Also would love to do this tag sometime. 🙂

It’s a pretty easy and fun tag:-) Only 6 questions, lol.
I can’t wait to see what you think of Jade City and Jade War, Tammy! They’re a couple of my faves!
Oh cool! I feel like the last person to read them…
Brotherhood of the Wheel will be one of my W&W reviews: I enjoyed this book so much that I acquired King of the Road even before finishing its predecessor…

Oh good, I can’t wait to read your review:-)
I really enjoyed The Brotherhood of the Wheel, and ever since I’ve wanted to try another book/series by Rod Belcher. Which would you recommend be my next read by him?
I would say King of the Road is a lot of fun, also Nightwise and The Night Dahlia are excellent too!
So glad you did this tag too 🙂
My bro is currently reading Bloody Rose and is enjoying it, which makes me want to fit in my read books this year.
It’s so good, even better than Kings of the Wyld:-)
I’m similar with the Fonda Lee books!
The sample has been sitting on my Kindle for a while but I didn’t get to it yet. I’ve seen some really exciting reviews recently though so I gotta finally try it!
Just about every review I’ve seen for Jade City has been 5 stars so I’m super excited to read it:-)
MIddlegame was just okay for me the first time around, but I would still like to read it again because I think I would get a lot more out of it the second time around.
It’s so complex, I feel like I missed stuff the first time:-)
Yess, Daoshi Chronicles is SO GOOD. I love that series and can’t get enough of it.
You’re one of the few bloggers I know that’s read the Daoshi books. I can’t wait for the next one!
I didn’t think I was going to like You Let Me In, but I gave it a try because it was short – omg LOVED IT. Just goes to show, you never know until you try 🙂
I’m so glad to hear that! I adored it, it’s one of my favorite books this year. Can’t wait to read your review
I was thinking of doing this tag too – I love your answers – especially You Let Me In,
Lynn 😀
It’s a fun tag. I’m doing a couple more this month too, wow look at me go! lol
MIDDLEGAAAAAME everything else about this post left my mind when I saw that, haha. One of my all time favourites. Definitely worth a reread! I reread it just a few months after my first read and will probably reread it again this summer. 😛

Oh cool, another Middlegame fan! Such a unique book, I almost wish it were a series.
Yes, I would love to spend more time with Roger and Dodger! But I am also a fan of the Wayward Children books (which are so short), so I was grateful for the length of Middlegame in comparison 😛

I should be reading You Let Me In soon, and I’m looking forward to it, since you enjoyed it so much. 😀 I’m glad to see you love The Girl With Ghost Eyes! I’ve seen the book around and was really on the fence about whether or not to read it, but you’ve convinced me. Definitely gonna pick that one up, then.
I would like to point out that the month is NOT almost half over, thank you very much. It’s a third. Which is considerably smaller than a half, and you can’t convince me otherwise, because I’m not prepared for May to zip past as quickly as April did, thank you very much. xD
Lol, I guess I just rounded up? Oops
