This week’s theme: Freebie!
I’ve already used so many favorite books for other themes, so it took a bit of searching this week. I finally decided to highlight All Systems Red by Martha Wells, the first Murderbot book. I was happy to see a fair amount of covers available, so let’s get started:
U.S. 2017 edition – Tor.com
Spanish edition 2019 | French edition 2019
Hebrew edition 2018 | Russian edition 2019
This is tough, I love all of these for different reasons. But ultimately, the Russian edition works best for me. I love the black and white color scheme (which is strange because usually I gravitate towards color!) and the central figure of Murderbot. It’s a similar idea to the U.S. cover, but for some reason I like this better:
Oh I definitely like the top cover the most!

That’s the cover I have, so I like it too:-)
Great choice for this freebie week – it’s been fun seeing the different covers people have plumped for:)). And I’m with you – I think the Russian cover rocks. It manages to have a human quality to the gaze and the way it is holding… whatever it is, while the blank faceplate somehow looks rather poignant. Very cleverly done…
It’s amazing what a few tweaks can do to improve a cover, right? The Russian cover is similar to the US cover, but so much better!
I really like that first one and the last one. But, I’m going with the first cover as it’s the one I own. I need to get caught up with this awesome series.

I own that cover too, and me too, I need to catch up!
I want to try this one.
It’s a fun series, and Murderbot is so cool!
Great choice! I definitely like the one you picked.
Thanks Kristi:-)
I was really going with the US version until I saw the Russian version at the end. I do think that is my fave with the US being a close second. I can’t believe I’ve not read this series yet.
It’s a lot of fun. I need to catch up, though, I’m behind!
Yep, that was the cover that immediately jumped out for me. Great choice.
Lynn 😀
Thanks Lynn:-)
Absolutely loved this book, and continue to love the series! The US Tor.com edition is my favorite of the covers.
I need to hurry up and the read books three and four:-)
I agree 100% the Russian edition is great!
It’s really good, right?
Oh I haven’t seen these other covers! Nice. I like the Russian one too, and the French one a bit. I’d go with the russian though too, I think, as my fave.

I like all of these, but yep, the Russian wins:-)
There’s something more intriguing about that Russian cover, Tammy. I agree!
I just think the whole design works best:-)
Amazing, I didn’t even know this one got so many covers already! Your winner is really cool!
I had a feeling it would have a fair amount of covers, now I’m curious about the other books in the series, I’m going to look them up!
I didn’t even realize this had so many different covers! Wow. I think I like the US cover the best, but the Russian cover is definitely a close second.
I actually thought there might be even more covers, since it’s so popular. But hey, these are all pretty good:-)
Ooh cool! I also liked the Russian edition best from the ones you found.
Wow, The spanish ones look almost vintage!
Oooh it does!
I hadn’t actually seen any of the other covers for this one before! I have to say, the original still remains my favorite, but I do love the one you picked too, the details on it are fantastic.
I like it a little more than the US cover, I think because of those details:-)
The top one is my favorite but I also like the Russian one, mainly because it kind of reminds me of the robot in the Lost in Space Netflix series, lol.

Oh I haven’t seen Lost in Space on Netflix, now I’m curious!
Oh I am so with you- that Russian edition is awesome. So creepy looking.
It is creepy, I hadn’t really noticed!
I’ve never seen any covers for this except the US one, but I really really like the Spanish edition 2019 🙂
