Book Review Giveaway – Win a Book I Reviewed in December/January

I started my Book Review Giveaway for two reasons: one, I wanted more people to read my reviews. Most bloggers I know bemoan the fact that even though book reviews are the main reason they blog, readers gravitate towards more “exciting” posts like memes, lists, giveaways, and discussions. Two, I wanted to put one of the books I’ve read each month in the hands of someone who’s really excited to read it. I stopped doing it because I just needed a break. Well, the break is over! Here’s how my giveaway works:

  • Each month around the 15th, I’ll post the giveaway, featuring all the books I reviewed the previous month. (sort of like a wrap-up post, but with bonus content!)
  • I’ll leave links to my reviews because I want you to read them if you haven’t!
  • The giveaway will run for two weeks, until the end of the month, at which point I’ll randomly choose a winner.
  • **Bonus: If I manage to post EIGHT reviews in a month, I will choose TWO winners! (That’s gonna be hard, my average is 6-7)
  • The giveaway is INTERNATIONAL, provided The Book Depository ships to your country.
  • No substitutions! If you win and you’ve already read the books, or you just don’t like the sound of any, then I suggest you don’t enter. This giveaway is pretty specific and this is one rule I’m strict with. I usually post a variety of books, both adult and YA, in lots of genres, so hopefully there will be something that interests you.
  • I use Rafflecopter for my giveaways, and there are multiple ways to enter. You don’t have to have a Twitter account to participate!

Congrats to last month’s winner: Bill N. chose Aurora Blazing!

I skipped my giveaway last month, so this time you have two months of reviews to choose from. And because I skipped last month, I will have two winners this time: one U.S. and one International. I read some amazing books as you’ll see below! Here’s what you’ll have the chance to win (click on the titles to read my reviews):

Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. The nitty-gritty: The zombie apocalypse meets Watership Down in Kira Jane Buxton’s glorious, emotional and hysterically funny debut. This book will change the way you think about animals, life and death, and may even give you a deeper appreciation of Cheetos®

The Bard’s Blade by Brian D. Anderson. The nitty-gritty: A deceptively “gentle” epic fantasy tale with bite, The Bard’s Blade is surprisingly addictive and perfectly paced. This series starter is a must read for fans of well developed fantasies.

Infernal by Cheryl Low. The nitty-gritty: A familiar horror scenario gets a facelift in this well written, fast-paced tale. If you like your stories spiked with aggressive sharks, creepy atmosphere and violence, then Infernal was written just for you.

Anyone by Charles Soule. The nitty-gritty: A thrilling and completely entertaining read from start to finish, Charles Soule once again knocks it out of the park with Anyone.

The God Game by Danny Tobey. The nitty-gritty: An seemingly innocent game turns dark and deadly in Danny Tobey’s latest sci-fi thriller.

Riot Baby by Tochi Onyebuchi. The nitty-gritty: A raw and heartbreaking story about growing up black, Onyebuchi infuses his tale with fantastical elements and gives us characters who are not willing to sit still.

Prosper’s Demon by K.J. Parker. The nitty-gritty: A twisty, clever and irreverent story about demonic possession.

Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire. The nitty-gritty: Fans of Down Among the Sticks and Bones will love this follow-up, as we get to go back “home” to the Moors, a world where death and murder are everyday occurrences.

The Dead Girls Club by Damien Angelica Walters. The nitty-gritty: A tense, thrilling mystery with tinges of the supernatural, Damien Angelica Walters’ latest will have your frantically turning pages long into the night.

…And Other Disasters by Malka Older. The nitty-gritty: Malka Oldler’s insights into the human condition give these quirky stories heft and emotion, and I thought about them long after I had finished reading.

Chosen by Kiersten White. The nitty-gritty: Kiersten White’s Buffyverse series wraps up nicely with Chosen, despite a few uneven plot points, and our favorite characters are back with plenty of snarky humor and Buffy Easter eggs.

The Will and the Wilds by Charlie N. Holmberg. The nitty-gritty: A dark and dangerous tale filled with monsters, magic and hard choices.

A Longer Fall by Charlaine Harris. The nitty-gritty: A solid follow-up to An Easy Death, unfortunately I wasn’t as wowed by this book as other readers.

Ready to enter? Simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Two winners (one U.S. and one International) will be randomly selected at the end of the giveaway. Good luck!

Yes!! There are a lot of good choices this month but I have to say I’m very partial to Hollow Kingdom:-)

  1. Carl

Hollow Kingdom looks good but I think I’d have to review the choices again if I was lucky enough to win. Thanks!

  2. Lisa Babs

I’ve got my eye on Hollow Kingdom by Kira Jane Buxton. It just seems such a unique take on the zombie genre.

  3. Sally Wright

Hollow Kingdom was highly recommended at a local indy bookstore. I’ve missed a lot of your posts lately so I missed that you’d reviewed this one but I squeed when I saw it on the list here!

  4. I didn’t know (or forgot lol) that Hollow Kingdom was about Zombies! How interesting. I pledged to read at least one zombie book this year and it sounds good! Ty for this giveaway Tammy!

And if the book wasn’t shouting at you, then I would have to shout at you, lol. Cause it’s the best book and I think you’d love it:-)

Oh my- tough choices here. Did I miss your review of Malka Older’s book?! I’ll have to dig it up. She’s really growing on my the more exposure I’ve had to her. I think ultimately I’d have to go with Riot Baby?

I would pick Chose. I read A Longer Fall by Harris. Wasn’t wowed either but it was an ok read for me. Had potential but fell a little short.

  7. Penny Olson

This is a great collection. I think I would pick Hollow Kingdom. I love the idea of a crow as the narrator.

  8. Mafalda V

I’m not sue, either Hollow Kingdom, because I’m curious, or …And Other Disasters because it sounds like exactly my type of book 🙂
