This week’s theme: Scary cover!
This is a fun theme, because there are so many choices this week. I had a hard time choosing one book, actually, but in the end I decided to go with a book/movie that scares me to pieces, and luckily there are some scary covers as well. I chose The Exorcist by William Peter Blatty, and I have to admit I’m scared just putting this post together, lol. Here are a selection of covers that I really like:
40th Anniversary edition (Harper) 2011 | Portuguese edition 2010 | Portuguese edition 2015
Romanian edition 1994 | German edition 2001 | Bantam edition (U.S.) 1984
Spanish edition 2007 | Georgian edition 2017 | Spanish edition 2019
Italian edition 1974 | Turkish edition 2012 | Lithuanian edition 2017
Ukrainian edition 2018 | Polish edition 2012 | Russian edition 2016
Tough choice, right? To me, the scariest covers are the ones with Regan on the cover, staring at the reader. And these two in particular are my favorites:
Yep, hands down the Portuguese edition is one of the best. I even mentioned on my feature this week how I must have been a Portuguese librarian in my past life. I remember working in a flea market one summer in high school bored out of my mind and buying this for a quarter so I’d have something to read. I just don’t know if I finished it though. I still think the first movie is one of the scariest I’ve ever seen.

What a great choice, Tammy! And the best cover as far as I’m concerned, with the 40th Anniversay offering. The red cover and the fact that the title slightly hides the child’s face is nicely done. Not too OTT… Have a great weekend!
It’s been a long time since I read this. The 2015 Portuguese cover sure is chilling!

I agree with both of your favorites, those were my top 2 too. Tho I think I like the Portuguese edition 2015 slightly better. Great pick this week!

Great choice. I love the first of your two favourites. That is super scary! I loved the film. It scared me so much and the music was perfect.

Wow, it was way back I read this one, far enough I don’t recall the cover of the paperback. But of those above, the 2010 Portuguese edition is the one that most freaks me out. Definitely a creepy book and movie. Good choice!
I think the Bantam edition (U.S.) 1984 scares me the most… It has that vibe of a book that was cursed and left in that dark corner of a used bookstore hahaha

I have to say- I don’t know that I’d call any of these a favorite, just because they are all so incredibly creepy! Great pick for this week.
Oh gosh, these are all so creepy good, Tammy. I agree with your choices because I think they are indeed the creepiest!
I know, isn’t it crazy that we’re always on the same wavelength? Good thing we picked different favorites though, because it would be pretty freaky if we chose the same winner too, lol!
THat one with the scary eye is the creepiest.
Nice one! Kind of like the Spanish 2019 edition myself, that red background gets me. Loved seeing all of these covers though!
Wow, those are all pretty terrifying, but the Portuguese 2015 with the white of the eye really freaks me out.
