This week’s theme: Cover Freebie!
I’ve wanted to use this book for a few weeks, since I’ve seen a couple of foreign covers revealed over on Rob Hart’s Instagram. It’s a little unusual to have three different covers for a book that’s only been out for a little over a month, but it just goes to show you that The Warehouse is already doing well, both here in the U.S. and overseas. Take a look at these three covers:
U.S. edition 2019, Published by Crown. This cover is pretty clever, with the large “buildings” that make up Cloud, made out of shipping boxes. Hovering above is a delivery drone on its way to deliver a package. Overall, I feel like this is pretty plain, and it’s my least favorite of the three covers.
U.K. edition 2019, published by Bantam Press. I love the UK edition, it’s also very clever, with imagery that suggests one of the characters being “trapped” inside the vast consumer-driven world of Cloud. It’s also very simple and plain, but I like it better than the U.S. cover.
German edition 2019, published by Heyne Verlag. Another very simply cover, but this one works the best for me. I love the box-like background with the bar code sticker on the front, which looks like it’s just been slapped on quickly, wrinkles and all. I love the imagery of the hands reaching out of the bars of the code, which conveys that “trapped” feeling that is the essence of the story. This is my overall favorite!
I think my favorite is the UK edition, but the German edition is good too!
Their both clever!
My hold for this hasn’t come in yet, which is probably good because quite a few others DID come in this week. Hands down – the German edition is awesome. I love the little hands popping up out of the barcode. And I really am surprised that there’s already a few covers out.
Hopefully you can get through your other library holds first, but don’t miss this, it’s a lot of fun!
I like the first cover the best, I think.^_^
That first cover definitely tells you a lot about the story, which I like.
What a good choice, Tammy – I’m loving the variety of this week’s FF:). And you have come up with three really strong contenders – but I think the German cover wins hands down (you see what I did there…). So clever – there is always something about hands waving in distress that packs and emotional punch, I think.
Ha ha, good one Sarah;-) It was a fun week, and I do like how everyone had such great choices this week.
Ooh, that German edition is great. Thanks for sharing, Tammy. 🙂
Isn’t it cool? Simple yet effective:-)
I like the UK cover best! Great choice this week 😀 I’m glad you got to use this cover 😀

I looked at all the themes for the rest of the year and didn’t see one that worked for this book, so I’m glad this “freebie” day came along:-)
German, UK, then US. Thanks for sharing the non-US covers. They are awesome! Arrrr!
x The Captain
That’s my order too:-)
Yes, the premise sounds interesting and I like the 3rd cover that you chose as well. Too bad it wasn’t in English
Yes, it will certainly be harder to track down a copy of the German version!
My vote goes to the German cover: those reaching hands paint a very strong picture indeed… 🙂

My favorite as well!
I’m going with the first cover. It makes me the most curious about the story inside.

That first cover does a great job of telling the story:-)
I hadn’t seen that UK cover but I really like it! Definitely my fave.
It’s pretty cool, simple but it works.
Wow, I didn’t realize this one had a few covers already. I agree, I love the UK cover, it’s very clever!
I was surprised too! I think the movie deal has something to do with its popularity, maybe.
Fantastic choice! I didn’t know about the two other editions but I do still like the first US one more! 😀

The U.S. cover is quite clever, and it definitely tells the story well:-)
I kind of love all of those covers for The Warehouse–I feel like they all go with the book really well!
They do! I think it’s a great book to inspire cover artists.
I prefer the last too but lean more toward the U.S. Crown 2019 edition. They would make me pick up the book.
I guess it has that many covers already because it’s a fun one to make covers for.
I’m really curious to see what other countries do with this book, it’s got lots of possibilities!
At first glance, the US cover I’m used to was my favorite because there was more to look at, but after reading your description of the last one, along with how the imagery suits the book, you sold me, Tammy.
They are all effective, but there’s something about those hands coming out of the bar code, it just freaks me out a little!
That last cover caught my eye (and creeped me out a little, lol) when I saw the hands reaching up out of the barcode I love that effect.

It’s very creepy!
I like the UK one best, but the copy I got at SDCC is the US edition.
Ooh me to! I was at SDCC and I also got the US edition. Have you read it yet?
I definitely agree with your favourite. It feels really clever making the cover look like a package for delivery.
Lynn
I think they are all clever in their own way, but yep, the German one is the best:-)
