Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
The publication date of today’s book isn’t too far off, it comes out in January, which honestly is just around the corner:-)
A group of three young thieves are pulled into a centuries old magical war between ancient beings, mages, and humanity in this wildly original debut epic fantasy.
The city has always been. The city must finally end.
When three thieves – an orphan, a ghoul, and a cursed man – are betrayed by the master of the thieves guild, their quest for revenge uncovers dark truths about their city and exposes a dangerous conspiracy, the seeds of which were sown long before they were born. Cari is a drifter whose past and future are darker than she can know.
Rat is a Ghoul, whose people haunt the city’s underworld.
Spar is a Stone Man, subject to a terrible disease that is slowly petrifying his flesh.
Chance has brought them together, but their friendship could be all that stands in the way of total armageddon.
The Gutter Prayer by Gareth Hanrahan. Releases in January 2019 from Orbit Books. I absolutely adore the Richard Anderson cover art. (You may recognize him as the cover artist for Kings of the Wyld and Bloody Rose by Nicholas Eames, among others. He’s done a ton of fantasy covers!) And I’m always in the mood for a good heist story, and the early reviews for this book are amazing. Can’t wait!
That bit about the city is so intriguing and makes me wonder how it all ties together with these three. Fantastic pick, Tammy
For more details about the city, there’s this blogpost (https://garhanrahan.wordpress.com/2018/08/20/a-guided-walking-tour-of-guerdon-1/) and its sequels 🙂
Wow, thanks Gareth! I’m headed over now to check it out:-)
Thanks, I’m very excited about this, and they author left a link to his website with more information on the city, so I’m headed over there now to check it out:-)
Sounds interesting. I just can’t believe we are already looking towards next years books! 🙂
I know! But if you think about it, January is only a few months away:-)
I’m a tad bit interested in learning more about Rat. I think I need to learn more about this book. Like Stormi said, how can we already be wishing for 2019 books!
I like to look really far ahead for my Waiting on Wednesday picks, I’m not sure why:-)
I like the sound of this one! The stone man guy reminds me of Game of Thrones. haha

I agree, I think it’s going to be fantastic:-)

Me too, I love blues and purples:-)
January being just around the corner is scary to think about haha, but I mean… not wrong based on how fast this year is going!
I do love a good heist and will almost always pick them up, plus this entire setting and premise just sounds awesome. Guess I’m adding another to my TBR! 🙂 Great pick!
January really isn’t that close, but it seems like the months are flying by, so I’m sure it will be here before I’m ready, ha ha.
I know it should be all about the story but I’m totally in love with that cover. The blue is amaaaazing! ♥
Ha ha I know what you mean! A great cover can totally win me over:-)
I had this one tagged on Goodreads to watch, but I don’t know what to think about the story yet. Having a great cover does make a huge difference though, just seeing it definitely makes me more excited 😀

Yep, that cover did it for me, I think:-)
That cover definitely makes me think of a dark, shadowy fantasy city! Love it! And a thieves guild… yes please. Totally new to me, but adding it!
Thieves and heists, those words get me every time:-)
This book is new to me, but I do love a good heist story. That cover is gorgeous too!
The heist story sounds like a good one!
This one has an awesome premise, Tammy. As ever you have produced an amazing book! Urg – please don’t tell me that Christmas is just around the corner…
You are totally right! The art is amazing! I hope you love it!
The city intrigues me. I’m going to hop over to the link and learn more. The cover art is magical.

OMG – where on earth do you find all these books! I want this. The premise and the cover. I need an orphan, a ghoul and a stone man in my life right now.
This sounds awesome and it comes out in January.
