Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
For the second week in a row, I ran across a new Pyr cover for a book I’m DYING to read, so one again I have to sing the praises of Pyr for creating such amazing covers for their books:
An apothecary clerk and her ex-mercenary allies travel across the world to discover a computing engine that leads to secrets she wasn’t meant to know–secrets that could destroy humanity.
Eight months ago, Rowena Downshire was a half-starved black market courier darting through the shadows of Corma’s underside. Today, she’s a (mostly) respectable clerk in the Alchemist’s infamous apothecary shop, the Stone Scales, and certainly the last girl one would think qualified to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders a second time. Looks can be deceiving.
When Anselm Meteron and the Alchemist receive an invitation to an old acquaintance’s ball–the Greatduke who financed their final, disastrous mercenary mission fourteen years earlier–they’re expecting blackmail, graft, or veiled threats related to the plot to steal the secrets of the Creator’s Grand Experiment. They aren’t expecting a job offer they can’t refuse or a trip halfway across the world to rendezvous with the scholar whose research threw their lives into tumult: the Reverend Doctor Phillip Chalmers.
Escorting Chalmers to the Grand Library of Nippon with her mismatched mercenary family is just a grand adventure to Rowena until she discovers a powerful algebraic engine called the Aggregator. The Aggregator leads Rowena to questions about the Grand Experiment she was never meant to ask and answers she cannot be allowed to possess. With her reunited friends, Rowena must find a way to use the truths hidden in the Grand Library to disarm those who would hunt down the nine subjects of the Creator’s Grand Experiment, threatening to close the book on this world.
The Fall (Thieves of Fate #2) by Tracy Townsend. Releases in January 2019 from Pyr Books. Wow is this cover gorgeous or what?? I loved The Nine so much, and January seems really far away right now! I don’t usually wish for time to go quickly but in this case, I really cannot wait! If you haven’t read the first book yet, you have a few months to catch up, so go do that:-)
Thanks for hosting this, Tammy! I can’t wait for January, either. 🙂
Best,
Tracy
Awww thanks for visiting, Tracy! I forgot to mention that the creepy creature on the cover is an aigamuxa, and that glowy red thing on his feet are his eyes! This cover is killing me, it’s so awesome:-)
That is one startling cover. It’s super though. I might have to check out the first one before this one releases.
Oh you must. I think you’d love this series.
That is one creepy-ass cover . . . elements of Geiger and Lovecraft. That would definitely catch my eye on the shelf.
I love that the cover has one of the cool monsters on it, the aigamuxa.
That cover is SO freaky! But I love it 😀
It is right? I’m totally excited to find out what’s going on:-)
I have been trying to squeeze in book 1 for a while (hopefully it happens soon!) but WHAT is that on this cover. Lol Holy hell. Really great cover art though.

Ha ha, it’s a creature from the series called an aigamuxa, and those are its eyes on the bottom of its feet! Weird, huh?
I missed out on The Nine – but this cover is very much tempting me! Though that’s hardly a surprise – you have a knack of choosing books that have me YEARNING for them… I hope this one is as good as her cover!
Ha ha, thanks Sarah, I only pick the best covers to share;-)
This is an awesome cover!
It is, right? Pyr has really cool covers:-)
I won The Nine in a giveaway about a week ago so I’m super excited to dive into the series! And that creature on the cover is giving me The Pale Man vibes from Pan’s Labyrinth and I’m loving it. 😀
Oh cool, I hope you love it as much as I did:-)
I have never heard of this series and I am very intrigued by it. Those covers are really stunning and the whole concept sounds really intense. I hope that you enjoy it. 🙂
I love these covers as well. And it’s a fantastic series!
An apothecary and mercenary sounds very interesting. Enjoy when released
Thanks, they do sound interesting!
I’m waiting for Wildcard, but I pre-ordered that in April so it’s something I’ve been waiting a while for already. The cover art for these books look amazing. I like to start at the beginning of a series, so I’d have to start with the first book before reading The Fall.

Wildcard has a little more of a wait, hopefully the time will go quickly!
I had a feeling you would be featuring this one today! It’s funny how we can now kind of anticipate each others’ WoWs, lol. Maybe it’s because I’m really looking forward to this one too 😀
Ha ha, I think you’re right! I think you and I are both in the “cover reveal of the week” camp:-)
The cover alone will give me nightmares, lol. It reminds me of the monsters from I Am Legend. *shudders*

Oh you’re right…I love this creature in the story, scary and dangerous but extremely smart.
That cover!! I’d read it after only seeing the cover aha!
Me too! Oh wait, I would actually read it no matter what the cover looked like:-)
What an ace cover. I’ve been waiting for the blurb for this one so that I could feature it too. (I don’t know – you turn your back for one minute – one minute – lol) I’m so excited for this one though.
Lynn 😀
Ha ha I found the cover on Edelweiss before it showed up on Goodreads:-)
Eeek! Book two is coming out? I haven’t read book one yet! Well at least I own it. And now I have a deadline. Thanks for sharing. Arrrr!

Oh cool, if you own the first book I hope you get the chance to read it soon! I’d love to read more fellow blogger reviews of this book:-)
I am such a mood reader that I don’t know when that will be but I will certainly be reviewing it when I do.

Wow, that cover is amazing. I stared at it forever before moving on to read more about the series, which sounds equally amazing!
Ha ha I totally understand! The artwork has so much intricate detail:-)
What cool and creepy looking covers! It’s my first time hearing of these books, so thank you for sharing 🙂
