I recently did a big post on a bunch of 2018 books I’m excited about, but of course there is always room for more excitement, so this week I’m bringing you a completely different list of books that are releasing this spring, ones I hope to read and review! Here are my most anticipated books of March, April and May, in order of release date (click on the titles to visit Goodreads):
Looking Glass by Andrew Mayne. I’m a bit behind, as Looking Glass came out on March 13, but I may be reading this by the time this post goes live. Mayne’s The Naturalist was one of my biggest surprises last year, and I’m thrilled to be able to read his next book.
Torn (The Unraveled Kingdom #1) by Rowenna Miller. Torn officially comes out today, so I hope to squeeze this in before the end of March. I love the idea of a seamstress who infuses magic into her sewing.
Dread Nation (Dread Nation #1) by Justina Ireland. Releases on 4/3/18. All you need to know: historical zombie story. I’m so excited to dive into this YA!
Unbury Carol by Josh Malerman. Releases on 4/10/18. This will be my first Malerman, although I do own Bird Box. This sounds delightfully creepy!
Blackfish City by Sam J. Miller. Releases on 4/17/18. I’m thrilled to have a review copy of this book, which sounds like my kind of crazy:-)
The Atrocities by Jeremy C. Shipp. Releases on 4/17/18. This horror novella sounds right up my alley, and I’m hoping I can download the Tor.com review copy so I can read it (ongoing technical struggles are the worst!)
The Underwater Ballroom Society edited by Stephanie Burgis and Tiffany Trent. Releases on 4/30/18. I featured this book recently on a Waiting on Wednesday, and I was thrilled to see Stephanie Burgis’ tweet the other day asking bloggers if they wanted a review copy. I can’t wait to read this anthology with stories written around the theme of, well, underwater ballrooms:-)
Dark of the West by Joanna Hathaway. Releases on 5/8/18. This YA debut is a fantasy set during WWII, and sounds really good.
Obscura by Joe Hart. Releases on 5/8/18. This “thriller in space” sounds so good, and it’s being described as “mind bending” which is just one more reason to read it.
84K by Claire North. Releases on 5/24/18. The title refers to the price for murder. In a future society, 84K is the cost for killing someone. Cool idea, right?
The premise for 84K does sound super interesting! Was it you who mentioned it in another post? Someone put it on my radar recently lol.

Yes, I’ve mentioned it before, lol! I have a review copy so that’s probably where you saw it.
I’m interested in most of these. I just saw a great review for Torn yesterday and had not even heard of it so it went on the wishlist then. I guess the good thing about knowing about most of these is that the wishlist didn’t grow.

I’ve seen some really good reviews of Torn too, although I’ve seen a couple of “meh” ones as well. I think I’m reading it next, so I’ll let you know!
Obscura and 84K sound awesome! I have been binging on mysteries for months, and I just picked up a dystopia and am loving it so I want to read more sci-fi and am adding these to my TBR!
The best is sci-fi/mystery combined! That’s one of my new favorite genres:-)
Oooo! The Atrocities sounds like the book for me. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I’m having a heck of time trying to find new horror releases.
Finding good horror is tough for me too. Let’s hope this works for both of us:-)
Quite a rich selection indeed! I look forward to your reviews, Tammy.
Thanks Steph. Yes, quite a broad range of sub genres, right?
Dread Nation, I can’t wait!!
I hope we both love it:-)
A thriller in space, titled “Obscura”? What am I waiting for???? 🙂

You and me both, thrillers in space never let me down:-)
Ooh Blackfish City. I’m quite looking forward to that one. Same with The Underwater Ballroom Society. And 84K lol. I may have seen some of these on your blog- between you and Mogsy I get lots of ideas in the SF area!

Ha ha, glad we can help make your TBR just a little taller, lol:-)
I’m really looking forward to the Underwater Ballroom Society – I don’t normally like short stories but this one really appeals to me.
Lynn 😀
Yay me too! The idea is just so unique, how can it be anything but good!
Yup! Dread Nation. 🙂
I’m excited to read that one too. I have it on hold at the library but I doubt I’ll get to read it in the spring. Maybe in the summer.
I hope we both love it, I’ve read some great reviews already:-)
I got my hands on 84k and can’t wait to get around to it. It sounds AWESOME!! Happy reading, Tammy! 🙂
Cool, glad we’ll both be reading 84K, Lashaan:-)
I can never do these lists for TTT because how do I narrow it down to 10! Most of these are on my list too, except Dread Nation, becaues this is the first time I’ve heard of the book. I think I will have to check it out!

Ha ha, I know what you mean, 10 is impossible! Yep, Dread Nation sounds really good. I think it’s a Harper title, if you’re auto approved on Edelweiss you can just download it:-)
Ballroom society — that cover and that title has me sooo curious!
It does sound unique, right?
happy to meet another blogger that is as excited as me about Dread NAtion! OMG I CANNOT WAIT!

Oh yay! Hope we both love it:-)
Some of these look really interesting. I read Dread Nation and wasn’t real impressed with it but hope you enjoy it. I have Obscura on my list too cause of you! 😉
I have a copy of Dread Nation so you’ll be seeing a review eventually. I’m curious to see if I enjoy it:-)
Ooooh, there’s a Goodreads giveaway for Dark of the West! Thanks for bringing that book to my / our attention this week – what good timing. 😉
I don’t think I have any Spring 2018 books on my radar… Though I know that Guardian, the finale to A.J. Hartley’s Alternate Detective series, comes out sometime in June. I just don’t remember if it’s before summer begins, or after. *lol* So other than that, most of my Spring 2018 reads will be catch-up on older books and one or two Winter 2018 books.
I’ll have to check out that giveaway! I hope you have great luck catching up with your TBR:-)
I’d be delighted to read most of these, Tammy:). I love your taste in books – I’m hoping to get hold of Torn as it looks awesome. I hope you enjoy these books and I look forward to reading your reviews:))
I hope you get a copy of Torn, it may be my next book:-)
Torn and Unbury Carol are both on my TBR! I’m not sure when I’ll get around to them though. Work has been so crazy lately I’ve had practically no reading time and it’s super bumming me out. lol

I ended up DNF’ing Torn, but I loved Blackfish City!
