Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!
It’s Sci Fi Month, in case you haven’t heard, and this month all my Waiting on Wednesday picks will be science fiction. Today I have another far-off release to share with you, but wow it sounds great!
Move over Mad Max―here comes Nyx.
Ex-government assassin turned bounty-hunter, Nyx, is good at solving other people’s problems. Her favorite problem-solving solution is punching people in the face. Then maybe chopping off some heads. Hey―it’s a living.
Her disreputable reputation has been well earned. To Nyx’s mind, it’s also justified. After all, she’s trying to navigate an apocalyptic world full of giant bugs, contaminated deserts, scheming magicians, and a centuries-long war that’s consuming her future. Managing her ragtag squad of misfits has required a lot of morally-gray choices.
Every new job is another day alive. Every new mission is another step toward changing a hellish future―but only if she can survive.
Apocalypse Nyx by Kameron Hurley. Releases in July 2018 from Tachyon Publications. I mean, who doesn’t love a bad-ass female bounty hunter? It’s been a few years since I’ve read anything by Hurley, but this seems like a book that I NEED to read.
A book that I look forward to reading as well! Thanks for reminding me, Tammy.
Punching people in the face and chopping off heads – what’s not to like. Kidding! This does sound like something I would enjoy.
Lynn 😀
Nyx sounds awesome and hey, chopping off heads vicariously through a book sounds fun!

Yes, a girl does have to make a living, indeed. As long as no one is too picky about how she does, of course… 😀
Sounds amazing, thanks for sharing!

Ah… now THERE’S a real heroine:)). I love the book cover:)
As much as I’m intrigued by this, I know from past experience with Hurley’s books that I just can’t get into her style, so I think I’ll have to sit this one out. I hope you enjoy though, it does sound fun!

*hands up* Badass female bounty hunter? More please@ Great pick, Tammy!
I’ve never read anything by this author but this character sounds like a more badass Devi (if that’s possible).

Yes! I love how many books are coming out at the moment built around the simple concept of women punching things/people 😀
