I stumbled across this amazing flowchart a while ago that shows the Big Five Publishers (Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Macmillan, Simon & Schuster and Hachette) and their many many imprints, and I’ve been meaning to share it. For bloggers who are interested in all the twists and turns of the publishing world, and how publishers and their imprints are related to each other, this AMAZING flowchart by literary agent Ali Almossawi breaks down the tangled family tree of publishing in a clear and easy to read graphic. It’s also handy as a starting point when you’re trying to figure out who to go to when you want to request a review copy:-D Click here to see the chart!
That is a cool chart, thanks for posting it!
Navigating catalogs on Edelweiss has also been helpful in teaching me all the imprints and which publishers they belong to 🙂

Edelweiss is good for that, I agree!
Ok, that is helpful. Better than my crappy spreadsheet.

Ha ha, I tried a spreadsheet once but I completely gave up because, too hard.
Wow… this is crazy impressive and super helpful! It’s difficult keeping track of all the imprints sometimes. Thanks so much for sharing!!

omg the more I look at this the more I love it. Especially with it laying out the specific Christian publishers… lol Sometimes those sneak up on me because of pretty covers. I’m totally saving this.

HA HA!!! I do love this. I book marked it and I also saved it as a pdf just in case the website ever disappears:-D
Thanks for sharing this! It will certainly be useful to me as I have such a poor memory!
Oh my God, I love you so much. Like, you have no idea how much time you have just saved me trying to figure out which publisher to email Lol
Ha ha, glad I could help;-)
That…is amazing. THANK YOU! 😀
Isn’t it the best??
Holy cow, I didn’t even know all of those imprints existed! Or that so many were actually part of the Big 5! That flow chart is amazing, thanks for sharing 🙂

It is amazing how complicated the publishing world is:-)
That is amazing!!
Very interesting, thanks for sharing!
I like the visual shape that was given to the different flows and the way you can interact (sort of) with them by moving across with the pointer of your mouse. And each flow made me think of some alien, tentacle creature… But maybe it’s because I read too much SF!! 😀 😀

I’ve seen this one before, and it did intrigue me, but the thing is, I think I’m still too far away from this hidden knowledge of the publishing world 😀 is there a point in your blogging journey where this starts mattering? Like, who to sign up for or something..? Right now I just… sort of request books, and that’s all. I’m curious how this comes in handy 🙂 sorry for a silly question, of course 😀
