Only a few weeks ago, I had a crisis while trying to rate A Darker Shade of Magic, and on a whim, I decided I would no longer use star ratings, but rather a 1-10 numbered rating system. This worked for a few reviews, but now I’m changing my mind. I actually much prefer stars, and so I’m GOING BACK TO STARS, people! (Hey, it’s my blog, I can be erratic if I want to!)
Other bloggers have made forceful decisions and then weren’t able to stick with them. Take Matt, for instance, from Books, Brains & Beer. He decided to quit blogging, then he changed his mind. Thanks, Matt, for paving the way for my craziness!
I feel so much better now:-D Stop back here tomorrow, when my February Book Review Giveaway starts. I’ll be organizing my reviews by star rating, which I now believe is the proper way to do things (for me, at least!)
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
I’m a trailblazer.
It’s your space: Do what you want!
It’s probably easier for you as well as for us readers. Not so long ago, I read 2 books that were so great I wanted to give them a 6 stars instead of my usual maximum 5, so I thought about it too but abandoned the idea
Way to keep us on our toes, Tammy!
Hahaha there’s nothing wrong with being erratic. And it’s good to try different things, right!?
LOL nothing wrong with trying out new ways to do things. I’m curious, what exactly did you miss about the stars?
Honestly, I was having MORE trouble trying to rate books based on numbers. I know that logically a 1-10 system is the same as using 5 stars with half stars, but in my mind it didn’t equate. Stars rule:-D
I know what you mean, I have the same kind of comfy fuzzy feeling for stars
Ha… I was wondering how you were liking your new system. I wouldn’t trade my stars for anything, although some days I feel like some books deserve more than my five star limit.

Heheh yes, it’s hard to change your rating system when you’re used to rating one way! At least you tried it out!
I don’t rate at the moment – who knows, perhaps that will change! I’m just too erratic at the moment.
