Waiting on Wednesday (63) TIN STAR by Cecil Castellucci

Waiting on Wednesday copy

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a great way to share the books you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers. I recently went to my very first San Diego Comic Con and had the best time ever! I got a bunch of books (you can read about my book haul here if you missed it) and met lots of wonderful authors. I hadn’t even heard of Cecil before Comic Con, but she’s written lots of other books. She was so nice and I’m happy and proud to now own a signed ARC of Tin Star, which I’ll be reading soon. Here’s the book:

Tin Star

Tin Star by Cecil Castellucci. Release date: February 25 2014 (Roaring Brook Press). I believe this is YA, and it sounds like an exciting story. Here’s what Goodreads says:

On their way to start a new life, Tula and her family travel on the Prairie Rose, a colony ship headed to a planet in the outer reaches of the galaxy. All is going well until the ship makes a stop at a remote space station, the Yertina Feray, and the colonist’s leader, Brother Blue, beats Tula within an inch of her life. An alien, Heckleck, saves her and teaches her the ways of life on the space station.

When three humans crash-land onto the station, Tula’s desire for escape becomes irresistible, and her desire for companionship becomes unavoidable. But just as Tula begins to concoct a plan to get off the space station and kill Brother Blue, everything goes awry, and suddenly romance is the farthest thing from her mind.

  1. I’ve never heard of this one but OMGILOVETHECOVER! The stars and glowing light and the planet and the whole space vibe is so cool! I love books dealing with outer space – like Linked by Imogen Howson, Across the Universe by Beth Revis, etc. This one sounds good! 🙂

    Check out my WoW post!

  2. Ooo it does sound like a possibly good read. I’m always wary of smaller press pubs that I haven’t tried before…just as chancey as indie pubs haha. I can’t wait to hear what you think!

  3. Okay this one does sound awesome! I’m all for this new Sci Fi thing in YA! I think it’s about time. Plus all of them make me think of Firefly a bit and that’s never a bad thing!
