Welcome to Stacking the Shelves, hosted by Tynga’s Reviews, where we share the books we’ve received with the bloggosphere! This was my week for purchasing books, mostly. I’m still in catch-up mode (and will be for quite some time to come), so I only have one new NetGalley and two other books for upcoming blog tours. Here’s what I have, just click on the book cover to go to Goodreads:
For review:
The Returned by Jason Mott. Release date: August 27 2013 (Harlequin MIRA). This was on my recent Top Ten Summer Books, and I’m so happy I was approved to read it. It’s getting lots of attention and has a number of mixed reviews on Goodreads. But that won’t scare me off from reading it.
Canary by Rachele Alpine. Release date: August 1 2013 (Medallion Press). I’ll be on the Canary blog tour in August, which I’m very excited about. I’ve heard a lot of buzz about this book! Big thanks to Rachele for sending me a copy:)
The Samaritan’s Pistol by Eric Bishop. Release date: August 24 2013 (Jolly Fish Press). This is a new small publisher for me, and even though this isn’t my normal reading fare, it actually sounds like fun. I’ll be on the blog tour in September.
Received for Blog Tour:
Solstice by P. J. Hoover. Now available (Tor Teen). I recently participated in a guest post blog tour for Solstice, and the author/publisher was nice enough to send everyone on the tour a finished hard cover of the book. Not sure when I’m going to fit this in, but I will as soon as I can. It looks great! You can also enter to win one of 25 finished copies yourself! The giveaway is going on for another week or so, in addition to a gigantic giveaway on P. J.’s blog! Click here for more information on how to enter both giveaways.
Purchased:
I finally got Joyland! I can’t wait to read this one, in fact I will probably sneak it in next. I’m really excited to read Ink, for many reasons, but because I’ve seen so many disparate reviews, I’m curious to form my own opinions. I stumbled across Carnival while browsing through Publishers Weekly, and it sounds pretty darn good. Just click on the cover and read the Goodreads description! All these books are now available.
So, that’s what I have. I’d love to see what books you received this week—link me up below!
Don’t forget to check out my other giveaways, going on now—simply look at the top on the right sidebar!
Nice haul! Yay for The Returned, like you I’ve seen lots of mixed reviews but I’m looking forward to it anyway. I picked up The Shining Girls a few weeks ago, hopefully I’ll get to it soon! I’m halfway through Ink but I kepp putting it down to read other books. Happy reading 🙂
My Haul!
Ooo, lots of lovelies! I’m also on the Canary tour, but I think I am slotted for a guest post, so no review required! Though I would have liked to review. And I can’t wait to read your review of Ink! I’, on the fence with that one. Hope you enjoy your books! Have an awesome weekend 🙂
Check out my STS post!
I freaking love the Joyland cover! It’s flat out brilliant! Have fun with all of your reads, they all look great!
My STS
I’m eager to read The Shining Girls and The Returned. Can’t wait to hear what you think of them! Also, how cool that you’re on the Canary tour. That book looks awesome! Happy reading and stay cool this weekend 🙂
I heard an interview with Stephen King where he talks about the cover concept for Joyland and how it reminded him of his childhood. I love all of his books, so I’ll check this one out. Happy reading 🙂
