Waiting on Wednesday [297] – SAWKILL GIRLS by Claire Legrand

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

I’m absolutely in love with this cover, and the story doesn’t sound too shabby either:

Beware of the woods and the dark, dank deep.

He’ll follow you home, and he won’t let you sleep.

Who are the Sawkill Girls?

Marion: the new girl. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find.

Zoey: the pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is.

Val: the queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives, a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies.

Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires.

Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight… until now.

Sawkill Girls by Claire Legrand. Releases in October 2018 from Katherine Tegen Books. I’m always on the lookout for a really good YA fantasy, and this might be the one. Or does it sound more like horror? In any case, I’m keeping my eye on this book! Edited: Sawkill Girls just popped up on Edelweiss for those of you who use that site! And yes, I didn’t hesitate before pushing the download button:-D

Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D

  1. I’ve not seen this one before but you had to know I’d love it. I really like that cover and to me, it kind of sounds more like horror – or at least something along the lines of urban legend. I know I have several books by this author but don’t believe I’ve read any of them. Wonderful pick and I’ve already clicked that “add to Goodreads” button!

Also she just came out with a book recently, or it’s about to be released? Not sure, but she is very busy these days:-)

  2. Hm… this one sounds a bit more of a horror read, Tammy. I look forward to hearing what you make of it and hope you enjoy it:))

  3. This is one of my most anticipated books coming out in fall! I really want to request it on Edelweiss but…*glances over to the tower of TBR* Maaaybe a little later. 😛

Ha ha I know what you mean. I only requested it because October seems so far away, and I’m like “of course I’ll have time by then!”

  4. Haha, yes, I was gonna say I think I just saw this book recently on Edelweiss and I remember that it caught my eye because of the title. The blurb didn’t really speak to me at the time, but then your comment about it possibly being a horror made me rethink my interest. Seen through a horror lens, the description sounds a lot better!
