Waiting on Wednesday [291] – FOUNDRYSIDE by Robert Jackson Bennett

Waiting on Wednesdays is the brainchild of Jill at Breaking the Spine, and because Jill isn’t hosting it any more, I’m now linking up with Can’t Wait Wednesday at Wishful Endings. Stop over there and link up your “Can’t Wait” book of the week!

“Where have you been, Tammy?” Yeah, I know I haven’t put up a review in a couple of weeks. I’m still getting back to my normal schedule. Stay tuned for more posts next week, I promise!

Ugh, so many cover reveals lately! Once again I struggled to decide which book to feature, because there is another HUGE book that just had its cover revealed last week, and I’m sure many bloggers are going to feature it this week. BUT I’m super excited to share this with you, so that other book will have to wait:-D I found this by accident on Twitter not too long ago, I didn’t even know Robert Jackson Bennett had a new book coming out! I even stumbled upon a Twitter giveaway and won an ARC, which I’m pretty damn excited about, since I rarely win giveaways. Take a look:

In a city that runs on industrialized magic, a secret war will be fought to overwrite reality itself–the first in a dazzling new fantasy series from City of Stairs author Robert Jackson Bennett.

Sancia Grado is a thief, and a damn good one. And her latest target, a heavily guarded warehouse on Tevanne’s docks, is nothing her unique abilities can’t handle.

But unbeknownst to her, Sancia’s been sent to steal an artifact of unimaginable power, an object that could revolutionize the magical technology known as scriving. The Merchant Houses who control this magic–the art of using coded commands to imbue everyday objects with sentience–have already used it to transform Tevanne into a vast, remorseless capitalist machine. But if they can unlock the artifact’s secrets, they will rewrite the world itself to suit their aims.

Now someone in those Houses wants Sancia dead, and the artifact for themselves. And in the city of Tevanne, there’s nobody with the power to stop them.

To have a chance at surviving—and at stopping the deadly transformation that’s under way—Sancia will have to marshal unlikely allies, learn to harness the artifact’s power for herself, and undergo her own transformation, one that will turn her into something she could never have imagined.

Foundryside (Founders #1) by Robert Jackson Bennett. Releases in August 2018 from Crown Books. A new series from RJB is cause to rejoice! I absolutely loved The Divine Cities series and his new one is giving me Max Gladstone vibes for some reason. And that cover! I am in love. That’s all.

Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D

I love this author, and obviously I can’t wait! Yes, things are calming down a little, but there is a lot coming up in the next few months (graduation, college decision), so I’m not sure what my blogging is going to be like. I’m trying to read as much as I can, but sometimes life just won’t let you do everything, lol.

  1. I’ve read most of this author’s books and they’re all been fairly different so I will definitely pick this up because one thing is for sure – his work hasn’t let me down yet.

Thanks for posting this one, Tammy! The description sounds great and I loved The City of Blades (still haven’t read the other 2 yet). I’ll keep my eyes open for this one.

His stories are so unique, I can’t wait to see what he does with this new series, it sounds different:-)

  3. I haven’t read anything by this author. Yet. But the fact you are excited about it certainly makes me keen to check it out futher. And I love that cover! Thank you for sharing, Tammy:)

  4. This blurb had me at industrialized magic! Been waiting for the cover, and I must admit it’s not what I expected. I expected more ‘industrial’ and less “Rebel of the Sands” vibe that this is giving me — but no complaints!
