Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish, where every week bloggers are given a top ten theme to blog about.
I can’t remember the last time I posted a top ten list! So in my attempt to get my head back in blogging, I knew this week’s theme would be an easy one for me. After all, I have WAY more than ten books I’m looking forward to this year:-) All of these will be released during the months of July through December (although there aren’t actually any December releases on this list) and I’ve listed them in order of release date (click on the title to read the Goodreads blurb):
An Oath of Dogs by Wendy N. Wagner. Releases 7/4/17. I’m very excited for this science fiction thriller from Angry Robot. Eco-terrorism and sentient dogs? Plus if the setting is anything like the gorgeous cover, I’m know I’m going to enjoy this! ARC? Yes.
Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook by Christina Henry. Releases 7/4/17 from Berkley Books. This is already getting rave reviews and I’m so excited to read something else by Henry. ARC? Yes.
A Man of Shadows by Jeff Noon. Releases 8/1/17 from Angry Robot. Many of you may have no idea who Jeff Noon is, but he’s written a couple of my ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS, most notably Vurt and Pollen. I need to go back and do a reread of those because I read them over twenty years ago. I’m curious and a little scared to read his latest! ARC? Yes.
The Stone Sky (The Broken Earth #3) by N.K. Jemisin. Releases 8/15/17 from Orbit. I’m not very good at reading complete series, but this is one I’m so glad I started. Jemisin’s stories are powerful and beautifully written. ARC? Not yet but I will get one:-)
Godsgrave (The Nevernight Chronicles #2) by Jay Kristoff. Releases 9/5/17 from Thomas Dunne Books. Readers were divided when it came to Nevernight, but I loved it. I’m curious to see what happens next! ARC? No, but I’m requesting one soon.
Ruin of Angels (Craft Sequence #6) by Max Gladstone. Releases 9/5/17 from Tor.com. This is the first of Max’s Craft Sequence novels to be published by his new publisher, Tor.com, and I highly approve of this new cover style! ARC? Yes.
An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard. Releases 9/26/17 from Saga Press. I loved Kat’s debut Roses & Rot, so I’m looking forward to more from her. ARC? No but I will definitely find a way to get my hands on this:-)
The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman. Releases 10/10/17 from Simon & Schuster. This is a prequel to Hoffman’s much-loved Practical Magic, and I couldn’t be more excited! ARC? Yes.
Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the Deep #2) by Mira Grant. Releases 11/14/17 from Orbit. I loved the violent but funny Rolling in the Deep, and I was surprised and delighted to find out Grant has written a sequel! I find it interesting that the first book is a novella, and yet this is a full-fledged novel at over 500 pages. ARC? Not yet, but I’m in with Orbit, so I hope to get this eventually.
The City of Brass by S.A. Chakraborty. Releases 11/14/17 from Harper Voyager. This just came onto my radar and I decided to add it to this list at the last minute. Why? Because it’s already getting amazing ratings and reviews, plus the cover! ARC? Not yet. I saw it on NetGalley but I’m on a self-inflicted “request ban” for a while. I may go back and request it later.
Not me, if City of Brass is up then I shall be requesting it immediately. I am sure I will start to get excited about a book that I am not currently but I must say that the second half of the year thus far has only a few ‘must haves’ for me. Verses the first half where I wanted every book.

It’s actually Edelweiss where I saw it, not NetGalley. Go request!
Great choices! City of Brass sounds awesome!
I’ve already ordered The Stone Sky and Ruin of Angels. The others were not on my radar before, but now they are. Other books I’m anticipating & have preordered include Raven Stratagem by Yoon Ha Lee, Provenance by Ann Leckie, Tyrant’s Throne by Sebastien De Castell, and Broken Heavens by Kameron Hurley. Novellas include Taste of Marrow by Sarah Gailey and The Red Threads of Fortune by JY Yang. I’m going to be very busy!
Oh wow, you are going to be busy! I’m super excited to read Taste of Marrow as well, since I just finished River of Teeth.
Into The Drowning Deep I’m very excited for, I didn’t think we’d get a follow up to Rolling in the Deep. Yay! An Oath of Dogs definitely looks interesting!
A Man of shadows and The City of Brass look really promising as well.

I didn’t either, Rolling in the Deep seemed like a complete story. I can’t wait for Into the Drowning Deep!
Never heard of an Oath of Dogs but now I’m intrigued! I also can’t wait for The Stone Sky! 🙂
I’m not seeing An Oath of Dogs around much, but I hope it catches on.
I’m excited about a lot of these! Probably my most anticipated here is Ruin of Angels.
Ooh yes, I am ready for some Max Gladstone. I’m a little behind on the series, but that won’t stop me from reading Ruin of Angels.
I think I’ve heard Max say you could read the numbered ones in any order. I’d guess that’s true of Ruin of Angels as well. I’m going to read it the day it drops!
I have to thank you for mentioning Rolling in the Deep some time ago, and so reminding me of a story I missed (and recently managed to read): to say I’m very curious to see where Grant will take us with this one would be the understatement of the century, but with a little patience that curiosity will be fulfilled… 🙂

I’m very curious about Into the Drowning Deep too, I hope we both get to read it and find out how she handles a sequel!
A friend recommended An Oath Of Dogs so I think I’ll hop over and pre-order it. Sounds cool. A few others you’ve shared have caught me eye too!

I honestly want the cover art for An Oath of Dogs for my wall, it’s so gorgeous:-)
Me too. It looks like you can step right into it!

YAY ANOTHER VURT PERSON! I reread it a few years ago (with great trepidation), and while it wasn’t quite as OH MY WORD WHAT DO THAT AGAIN NO WHAT WAIT I DON’T AARGH as it was at uni it was still pretty good 😉 So I’m very excited about A Man of Shadows.
In the Drowning Deep and City of Brass both sound right up my street – I’ve added them both to the TBR…
Ha ha, I’m actually curious to see what I’d think of Vurt today, since my tastes have changed a little. Perhaps a reread someday??
Ack, how am I going to fit in all these great books! 🙂 I would love to get to most of these, but I think if I have to narrow things down, it would be An Unkindness of Magicians, Lost Boy, and City of Brass, plus Into the Deep if I can read it without having read the first one!

Outside of some of the author’s names, I have heard of ZERO of these titles!!! 🙁 An Oath of Dogs (loving all the tricks that cover is playing) and Ruins of Angels is catching my eye though.
I love your list and for once, the ones I’m interested in were already on my wishlist before I looked – that’s means no new ones were added (of course the list is long anyway). I am reading Lost Boy as a Two Bloggers One Book feature with Stormi in July and can’t wait. I am also seriously interested in An Oath of Dogs.

THE STONE SKY. 😀 I’m so freakishly excited for that book – and also frightened beyond words, because I can’t begin to fathom what the end of that series will be like. I think it’s going to shatter me, to be honest.

So many fantastic picks here, Tammy! An Oath of Dogs, The Stone Sky, Ruin of Angels, and The City of Brass are all high on my own “can’t wait” list. How will we ever read them all? 🙂

What a fabulous set of books – The Stone Sky is right up there on my own radar as I LOVED The Fifth Season and am fascinated to see how this series is going to end. As for the others, I’m STRONGLY tempted, but I MUST finish off more of the series I’ve already started before embarking on new ones. Thank you for sharing, Tammy – I always love your book choices!

Great list – I’m looking forward to most of these and I hadn’t realised that the Kristoff book was nearly due out – Sept – not a long wait.
Lynn 😀
An Unkindness of Magicians sounds interesting, and the cover is amazing. So much fun-sounding sci-fi on this list – yay!

I’m going to be reading Lost Boy too soon! Very excited for that one after her crazy Alice duology. I also wanted to request The City of Brass but I didn’t because I’m trying to be good. We’ll see how long that lasts. lol
