Waiting on Wednesday is the brainchild of Breaking the Spine, although Jill isn’t hosting this meme anymore. In any case, I will continue to post Waiting on Wednesdays, simply because it’s one of my favorite posts to do each week:-D
I was over the moon when I stumbled upon this week’s pick:
Seven years ago, the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a “mockumentary” bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a maritime tragedy.
Now, a new crew has been assembled. But this time they’re not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life’s work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.
Whatever the truth may be, it will only be found below the waves.
But the secrets of the deep come with a price.
Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the Deep #2) by Mira Grant. Releases in November 2017 from Orbit Books. I absolutely loved Rolling in the Deep when I read it two years ago, and I had no idea a sequel was coming out, but I’m pretty damn excited! The publisher has changed, unless Subterranean Press ends up doing a limited edition, so the cover art doesn’t really match the first book. BUT I can get over that. Dark, scary horror with killer mermaids!
This one (or rather, these TWO) have totally flown under my radar and as a Mira Grant fan I feel somewhat ashamed about it so… THANK YOU for spotlighting this! 🙂

I know Rolling in the Deep was only published in a limited edition (I think) so it wasn’t easy to find. But super short, super bloody and horrific fun, I just can’t believe there is going to be a sequel!
I will have to see if there’s an ebook edition, then, either alone or in some anthology… The chase begins! 🙂

I think there is an ebook! Definitely worth buying:-)
Yessss! I saw it! Blessed be the ebooks… 😀

I’m drowning in TBR so I shouldn’t be waiting for more of that which I cannot conquer. But I’ve preordered River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey and the one with Angels in the title by Max Gladstone and City of Miracles by Robert Bennett and probably a few more — so I’m waiting for them.
Ha ha very smart! I’m definitely going to be reading River of Teeth and City of Miracles. Good luck with your TBR:-)
I just checked and since I can get Rolling in the Deep for my Kindle, I’m adding this to the TBR. I love some of this author’s other works – this is Seanan McGuire right? Also, that cover. And I don’t think I’ve read anything about killer mermaids before.
And hey, someone can get a hardback at Amazon for just a little over $1,000!!!

The limited edition is out of print so I’m not surprised that it’s going for big bucks. I’m glad I bought mine when it was released, although it was still pretty expensive ($40).
This might be the first book she’s written under the Mira Grant name that I’m actually curious about in a long time. I did note the publisher change too though, making me think both books can be treated as standalones? I’d be interested to know more if you learn anything about that! 😀

It does seem like you could read this as a standalone, because I think the characters are all new. But the first book is so good, I wouldn’t miss it!
No.way. I love killer mermaids and loved Rolling in the Deep, so this MADE my day. Thank you lol. I will be all over this ha ha!!

I was surprised too! Big excitement, I tell ya!
I’m a huge Seanan McGuire fan, but somehow have yet to read any of her work from her alter ego. Gotta fix this!

Ooo… killer mermaids! This sounds awesome… sigh! I cannot POSSIBLY add any more books to my TBR pile right now. But it’s definitely going on my wishlist.

How exciting. I love the sound of this one – and the cover for the first is stunning – I remember your review of that one. Will definitely be interested in this.
Lynn 😀
Wait, that’s a series? The covers are so misleading, like two totally different books :0

Wow. Everything McGuire/Grant writes has these amazing hooks! The only thing I’ve tried by her, I didn’t like; but this…this just sounds too good to ignore 😀 Maybe I can get my hands on a copy, somehow…
Oh, sounds interesting.,

I still haven’t picked up Rolling in the Deep, but I definitely have to now! The cover art for these books is killer.
