Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
This week’s pick is based purely on two things: I LOVE this cover, and it’s got a reference to Kate Atkinson in the blurb. As far as the story goes, I’m not sure if this has any speculative elements or not, but I’m intrigued:
Readers of Kate Atkinson will delight in this suspenseful and romantic debut novel about a woman haunted by nightmares and her grandmother’s role in a doomed love triangle almost seventy years before.
Death, accidental and early, has always been Abby Walters’s preoccupation. Now thirty-three and eager to settle down with her commitment-shy boyfriend, a recurring dream from her past returns: a paralyzing nightmare of being buried alive, the taste of dirt in her mouth cloying and real. But this time the dream reveals a name from her family’s past. Looking for answers, Abby returns home to small-town Minnesota for the first time in fourteen years, where she reconnects with her high school crush, now a police detective on the trail of a violent criminal. When Abby tries on her grandmother’s mesmerizing diamond ring, a ring she always dreamed would be hers, she discovers a cryptic note long hidden beneath the box’s velvet lining. What secret was her grandmother hiding? And could this be the key to what’s haunting Abby? As she begins to uncover the traces of a love triangle gone shockingly wrong nearly seventy years before, we, too, see that the layers of our lives may echo a past we’ve never known.
You Were Here by Gian Sardar. Releases in May 2017 from G.P. Putnam’s Sons. This isn’t a publisher that normally triggers my “must read” radar, but I’m so in love with the cover I might need to read this anyway! I know, shallow:-)
Sounds creepy! Recurring, inexplicable nightmares could mean speculative…*crosses fingers*
I’m waiting on Megan Whalen Turner’s Thick as Thieves!
I agree, I think there are some speculative elements. Here’s hoping!
The synopsis sounds just creepy enough that I’m interested as well. It must be the colors on the cover but it is really appealing. I may check this one out as well eventually.

I love the colors, but the main draw for me is the chandelier! I have a thing for them:-)
Oooh, love that cover! Hope you are able to get ahold of it soon! You can check out my Wednesday Post in the link below!

Ha, for some reason, being haunted with something that may be related to your grandmother’s past love triangle. Sounds intriguing 🙂

Yep, this sounds unique and different. Hopefully I can fit it in this year.
I know exactly nothing about this book, but I am already intrigued by the cover! The typography is really cool. Thrown in the phrase “suspenseful and romantic”, and I’m hooked. I hope you enjoy this book when you get the chance to read it, Tammy!
Have a fabulous week. =)

I just had to add this book, even though it’s not my typical read. But something about the cover just draws me to it!
Definitely intriguing! I shall watch out for this one.

First time I’ve heard of this and it sounds good! I wouldn’t have expected such a haunting, eerie story from looking at that cover.

The cover definitely has a contemporary fiction vibe to it. Except for the blurry letters which suggest a mystery to me:-D
That cover is making me dizzy.
LOL. I think that might be the point:-)
The cover is really cool, so I’m with you there. It’s the first I’ve seen of this one.
Love the cover and the synopsis! Despite not having heard anything about this book before today it’s going straight onto my wishlist 🙂

haha The initial appeal of a cover can be a good or bad thing. I’m hoping for good because I’m also excited for this one!
