Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
Having recently read my first Cherie Priest book, I was excited to see that she has a new book coming out next April! Check it out:
In the trenches of Europe during the Great War, Tomas Cordero operated a weapon more devastating than any gun: a flame projector that doused the enemy in liquid fire. Having left the battlefield a shattered man, he comes home to find yet more tragedy for in his absence, his wife has died of the flu. Haunted by memories of the woman he loved and the atrocities he perpetrated, Tomas dreams of fire and finds himself setting match to flame when awake….
Alice Dartle is a talented clairvoyant living among others who share her gifts in the community of Cassadaga, Florida. She too dreams of fire, knowing her nightmares are connected to the shell-shocked war veteran and widower. And she believes she can bring peace to him and his wife s spirit.
But the inferno that threatens to consume Tomas and Alice was set ablaze centuries ago by someone whose hatred transcended death itself….
Brimstone by Cheriee Priest, releases in April 2017 from Ace Books. Wow, this sounds completely different from The Family Plot, but equally as eerie. And I’m loving this cover SO much! If only April weren’t so far off!
Let me know what you’re waiting on this week:-D
You should check out her Eden Moore series (there are only 3, and while I’ve only read the first one so far, I really enjoyed it. It’s set in Georgia and there are ghosts and magical powers to curse the living. I think you would like it.

I’ve never heard of that series, but I’ll definitely check it out! She does Southern Gothic really well:-)
I STILL need to read The Family Plot! But yes, I agree this one sounds very different. And both are also very different from Maplecroft, her Lovecraft-y horror book that I did read. She is a very versatile author!

I still need to read Maplecroft, and I’m curious to see just how different it is.
i really enjoyed the Family Plot, so this is a huge Yes for me!

I’m very curious to check out more from her, but as always it’s a matter of time:-)
This is also a yes for me. I think I could go a a bit of a Priest ‘kick’ at the moment!
Lynn 😀
I know what you mean. When I discover a new author I always feel like binge reading them:-)
This sounds so dark. But in a completely awesome way 😀

It does sound dark, but for some reason the cover makes it feel LESS dark, if you know what I mean:-)
This sounds great! And I agree, I love that cover.

I sort of recognize the artist from other covers. I’ll have to find out who it is:-D
I find your description of this book absolutely fascinating!
To say that it set my imagination on fire would be a big understatement… 😀
