Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine, and is a fun way to share upcoming books that you’re excited about with other bloggers and readers.
Hot on the heals of Nnedi Okorafor’s Hugo Award win for her novella Binti, I was so excited to see that there will be a sequel! Binti was a strange delight, and I had no idea she was working on another book in this world. But apparently she is!
The thrilling sequel to the Nebula-nominated Binti.
It’s been a year since Binti and Okwu enrolled at Oomza University. A year since Binti was declared a hero for uniting two warring planets. A year since she abandoned her family in the dawn of a new day.
And now she must return home to her people, with her friend Okwu by her side, to face her family and face her elders.
But Okwu will be the first of his race to set foot on Earth in over a hundred years, and the first ever to come in peace.
After generations of conflict can human and Meduse ever learn to truly live in harmony?
Home (Binti #2) by Nnedi Okorafor releases in January 2017 from Tor.com. Binti was an interesting look at the way different species relate to and treat each other, and I enjoyed the author’s take on that theme. I’m very excited to read about Binti’s next adventure!
Have you started this series? Let me know what you’re waiting on:-)
I never read Binti but I’ve always loved the cover. I think Tor has had some really exciting releases lately so I’m interested to hear what you think of this continuation.

I agree, Tor and Tor.com both have had excellent releases which is one reason I often feature them on my WoW posts.
I completely overlooked Binti when it came out, but the blurb for this intrigues me. I might have some catching up to do.
Super short novellas, Bob, and easy to fit in:-)
I had seen the first installment before but it hadn’t quite caught my eye until its Hugo win! Will definitely have to check this series out 🙂

The Hugo win caught my eye too, I haven’t tried this author yet. It certainly sounds compelling and original, and that’s quite the cover!

I loved Lagoon, and shortly afterward purchased Binti, but have yet to read it. I’ll have to push it up the list so I’m ready to read this one!
I’ve not heard of this book, or its predecessor! I LOVE the covers of both books. I hope you enjoy this sequel when you get a chance to read it!
Have a fantastic day, Tammy. =)

I should probably read a full length novel by Okorafor first before I dive into this, especially since I couldn’t really get into Binti. But good choice, I was pretty intrigued when I learned Binti was getting a sequel!

Oh nice! I remember seeing the cover a lot for Binti but never really paid attention before. That one sounds interesting. I’m glad that it’s getting a sequel!

Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor was a DNF for me, but I still want to try Binti (such an amazing cover if nothing else!), so I’m glad to find out there’s going to be a sequel. Hurrah for diverse sci-fi!
